This is a great illustration of the core problem, even though you didn't mean it that way.

A literal temporary league CHALLENGE.....is not the place for tutorials. It is the place to, as described by the name, CHALLENGE builds to go above and beyond the normal state of the game.

It's not just inelegant....its fully backward design.

Never said it was good design or that it was preferable, just pointing out why its there, and suggesting its technically better than entirely nothing.

In light of what they've done with PoE2 though, I'm quite happy to give them the benefit of the doubt that its a placeholder until they sort out bringing in a more proper tutorial.

Oh don't get me wrong, I know you even said it wasn't particularly effective use....I'm just saying that's an incredibly political and "nice" way of putting it hehe.

Placeholder 13 years into the development of the game? Not so sure about that one. It's now just lingering bad design. As to "why its there".....I don't think that is why its there. Its there because GGG has been lazy on challenge design and it shows. It has nothing to do with a beneficial attempt to train players to use wikipedia.

I remain entirely unconvinced this entire thread isn't a case of a loud few demanding imposition of unnecessary rules on everyone based on their own inability to accept that some people play the game a different way than they do.
