EXP LOST IS STILL BAD.
" I have said the exact same thing for so many times, for so many years. But, in the end it's clear GGG doesn't give a ****. XP loss is their thing and it's clear this league they're not going to get rid of it. They conceded a little bit to make it so bosses don't take XP, but they're not backing it out completely. Which, to take a quote from somebody else in this forum I've gone back and forth with, that's a clear sign they're not going to take it away. XP loss has been around since the games come out, it's not something new that might need balance. It's a staple. Now on the other hand, I've also come to realize if you really want to level that badly, you just back the juice off for 40 to 50 maps and you get to your 100. If XP and level 100 is a priority, then you have to prioritize it in this game and you just can't, go full top tier maxed out mapping. Or,.. at least in my case, once I get over 30% to level 100, I begin to start watching what I'm doing a little bit harder. Once I get over 50-60%, I really start to back the juice off because now leveling to that next level has become the priority over making the money. Then, as soon as you hit that next level. Go full tilt juicing again. Not saying I disagree with you, but also saying there are ways around it. |

" Fully agree with arknath#4740. It far more fun than playing without penalty. And you can reach 98 with zero efforts / omens and risky playstyle. Personally get 99 with no problems. Can't get 100, because start doing t17, 8mod t16 + deli + lots altars... But now i feel that every death is my fault / bad understanding of game. There is no more XP loss when you want voidstones, and doomed to death in Maven memory game, Elder slow + Shaper beam... I engage merc without upped guard skill and get one shotted? That's my fault. I fully charge Verisuim with atlas node on stronger Verisuim, which summon few bosses + lots of bad map modes and get killed? That's my fault... You guys practically want "press X to win" game. " Play hardcore? "Oh no, not that kind of penalty!" Hypocrite. " Mm, delicious straw man. |

" You are comparing "Unable to get one skillpoint out of 123, due to own laziness / lack of skill" with "Losing all your one month of play progress". Do you understand that entirely different things? |

" It's a conspiracy or maybe your take is just bad and people are chiming in. |

I'll give a few examples for anyone lurking who would like to push 99 to 100.
Normal breachstones are about 0.5% xp per encounter. These take about 1:45 to 2 minutes to complete. The bonus: you can safely play the Maven encounter along the way farming some Maven invitations and a few extra Conflict Orbs. There's a modest profit but nothing fantastic. I had a few Awakened gems but they were all the 30c Cold Damage supports. Blessing drops were about 1 out of 10 in my experience. Flawless breachstones at 99 will go to about 2% XP per instance. On the market they're usually about 1.5 to 2 divines each. So it could be a straight 75d to 100d expense. But at 2 minutes per encounter, this is obviously something to consider. T16 Dunes Breachspam was about 1.5% xp per map. Maybe up to 2%? Beyond from the tree might help. The downside is the time to complete may end up being in the 7-12 minute range. This time depends entirely on your lootfilter and how fast your build can clear. Also, you will have to choose between fast breaches or slow breaches and that will impact the overall time. For the record, if you're at level 97 it's only about 17 maps to go to level 98 this way (6% xp per map). 5-Ways are self explanatory. Play them yourself or just buy a carry. Whatever. I don't know what the XP gain is from those groups since I never do that. Beachheads (t15) are somewhere around 0.5 or 0.4 and those take a lot of time. But they're very safe. Delve is good until about level 94 or level 95. Kill Kitava, and at level 65 you could do one or two Delve session and boost your build to 90 fairly efficiently since all you do is go from A to B nonstop slaying monsters. Like in the campaign, keep your build and depth level on par. Last edited by jack_aubrey#0655 on Jul 26, 2025, 11:27:49 AM

Still bad? it was never not bad but its needed in a game like this.

" Needed ? Let's be honnest most people either don't give a fuck about exp/lvl (<- me) or buy services to carry them to lv100. I personally think it bring nothing interesting to the table and almost nobody play more carrefully or whatever since there are ways (5 to be exact) to cheese it. An outdated feature with no real purpose except gatekeeping a challenge every league. |

" GGG's take on level 100 is a prestige. If you really want it, then you'll grind for it / pay for it. If you don't want to then why do you think you deserve it by passively earning it? You overreached into content that you can't handle and your character lost 60% experience, that's on you. Build better defenses or grind easier content until you're satisfied with your level. |

" Death penalty or not, there's no way to gain exp "passively" as far as i remember (except in 5ways and carries), you'll have to play to get there. And if you run content you can't handle, you won't gain exp no matter what and most of the time number of portal left is what make people reconsider in softcore. That's why in my opinion, death penalty isn't super interesting in the game right now. But, that's softcore player problem that has been debated since the game is playable and guess what, it's not about to change ^^ |
