Acolyte of Chayula - Passives review and feedback

" Lol, you mean a buff that happens AFTER the fight is over, and doesn't last till next pack of mobs... and needs to be build for 1 minute prior... That's impressive ? I'll replace it all for a constant +12% damage instead if i could. By the way before we had +23% damage at all times for 2 points, far superior. Can't wait the next "buff"... Maybe it's time to delete this ascendency. |

" The 200 limit only applies to Volatility, not the 10s Volatile Power buff. I don't think there is an established limit on the buff itself. I've reached over 300 Volatile Power before. The Notable Instability + the Catharsis support are the key enablers. A Time-Lost with 25% Notable Effect bumps the 25% chance to proc Instability up to 31%. Hopefully, more sources of "buffs expire x% slower on you" become available. The 20% on the current passive tree makes Volatile Power last 12.5s instead of the the normal 10, but that modifier has increasing returns. The hardcap is (at least in PoE1) 75% slower, which would make Volatile Power last 40s. Last edited by LeFlesh#9979 on Sep 23, 2025, 12:56:05 PM

I stopped using Volatility whatsoever guys.
It's just not worth it. Looks cool, but is unreliable. I liked Reality Rending for an avg 20% Extra Chaos dmg WAY more. https://poe.ninja/poe2/builds/abyss/character/Evergrey-7535/Ever_Grey?i=0&search=name%3Dever_grey |

" This is my third monk and second acolyte in endgame. I've tried all of the ascendency choices offered, volatility is my favorite offensive so far. I can and often times have well over 50%. Occasionally I'll pop and have like +12% but conversely, pops happen on the upper side as well. Yes, during combat. Actually, mostly during combat. The problem is, you haven't learned how to stack it reliably. Last edited by Skyvortex#7923 on Sep 24, 2025, 9:49:33 AM

I like this feedback and can get behind pretty much all of it.
There's 1 thing that i would think could be interesting in where Darkness could have synergies with leech. So instead of us needing to use something like ES leech gloves / belt maybe give it a secondary node for Life Leech now also regenerates darkness? Because not only does darkness make you lose spirit and heralds, it makes you use arguably extremely strong defensive spirit abilities like Wind Dancer & Ghost Dance. Hell, i'm not even using any heralds because my current bastardization build needs Combat Frenzy. Note: I'm using Ancestral Cry & Shattering Palm for my AoE Clear. :D Yes, Ancestral Cry which is just another buff for my chaos damage shenanigans. Ghost Dance + Wind Dancer - Wind Dancer especially with Life Leech support gem seems VERY strong because it basically fills up my entire shield bar along with mana and Ghost Dance gives a nice buffer. No way in hell Darkness could ever compete with those 2. It severely needs a damage aspect and some interaction with leech and/or some defensive stat like, evasion as you put it. The only thing that i "kinda" don't fully agree on is the fact that you seem to be afraid that it enforces chaos-damage gameplay. I personally like it a lot, i think it's whole thing. Chaos damage. I think Unravelling should just have a 33% chance to affect 1 ailment with each hit. So instead of this rotating weird buff you'd get effectively the same effect but a lot more reliably. And no, in no way i think it would "ruin" the balance. On that note: Make unraveling AT LEAST a skill with support gem usage. I also use Catharsis on my QS-Strike to pop volatility when needed and my build is literally 0-crit right now because i don't want to invest any points into it. D: Personally i think for chayula, chaos damage can "replace" crit in terms of gameplay, at least that's how i approach it. Because before it always felt i had to stretch a bit too thin. What's better in 0.3 is the fact that i feel like i can focus more on chaos damage and none into elemental with using something like Original Sin. I have control over when to pop things. " Spot on with the defensive loss when using Darkness. I run similar with Wind Dancer and Ghost Dance, but I've also added Charge Regulation in there and endurance charges. I don't see how Darkness can compete in it's current state. |
