No you absolutely definitely do not have to do that. What is it with these posts every day?
You WANT to do that, because you WANT to maximize your rewards, but you absolutely do not HAVE to do it and you're definitely not being FORCED to.
Running 2 tablets on 100% of your nodes is giving you better average per-map output than you were getting before the patch so even if you're not ready to run 6-mod/1-portal maps consistently, you're still better off and I have no idea why so many of you are having trouble with that fact.
If you cant run 3 tablet 6 mod maps, then you have to resort to less mods. Or run lower tier Maps. The biggest difference between lower tier waystones and higher tier waystones is the experience gain and not the loot. In my experience the tier of the Waystone doesnt notably affect the currency rarity/quantity.
Yes, that is largely true. There are some level cut offs for currency, like for perfect exalts, etc. However, usually at lower levels, you'll probably gather currency (and runes, splinters, etc) faster, just because you're going through the map so much faster. I feel like only running high tier maps is kind of a fool's errand. The only time I do T15/16 is when I want some high level item bases. After that, I do low tier maps to get crafting materials.

Sorry, I meant for people in general, not you specifically. I mean if other people are struggling with 6 mod maps, then I agree with you that they could just lower the tier level of their waystones. Managing risk like that - I think - is the fun of PoE.
