Act 3 needs to be remade.

You simply cannot make an ARPG campaign more rewarding or fun because it will be compared to the endgame where the rewards and fun are going to be objectively more abundant.
One way to make an ARPG campaign more tolerable however is to allow for much of the content to be completed more efficiently, at least on subsequent characters in a given league. This is hardly a "PoE 1 vs PoE 2" situation, it's "Any ARPG vs PoE 2", and PoE 2 is an ARPG. I am not stubborn enough to make the wild claim that the campaign is unplayable or doesn't work or is a waste of time or whatever, but it absolutely carries a noticeable sensation of running in sand so to speak. There is a constant feeling of urgency that cannot be satisfied, I move to slow, I'm dodge rolling through packs to get to the boss so I can get to the next area, I'm not enjoying myself at all. At least on softcore, which I decided to play this league, after playing hardcore the last two seasons (which is fun but very hard to get to end game alive...) i honestly think every act is too long besides the first one. the first one is nice and polished and linear. not too long not too short. a good progression of bosses with not too many random side quests that feel like they take longer than the main story/progression. I guess i like the bosses but I, and i feel like i am not alone in this, dont put a ton of thought into the intricacies of subplots beyond the major events.
I have been through the campaign like 15 times and have effectively memorized each map, no matter how many times they flip and mirror it, and i just dont find much of it enjoyable. I do however like the endgame experience of grinding and farming to boost my power levels to take on tougher challenges that are mostly self imposed. |

Some areas are a bit too long. Main thing I would change first is actually teleporting us back to town if we want to go to town. Not that annoying multiple step process in the 2nd half of Act 3:
- you TP to town - it instead takes to to a time portal which you have to walk around and go in to actually go to town - then to go back to your zone you need to repeat the process With the slow movement speeds and the loading times it gets a bit annoying. This is also around the Viper fight which is a skill/dps/build check. So players will usually be teleporting back to town to change/upgrade their builds, sometimes even a few times. It's adding unnecessary friction, especially for newer players who are at this time considering whether they are going to keep playing the game after being killed by Viper 10 times. GGG should check their stats. I suspect they'll see a drop-off of players around here. Last edited by SaiyanZ#3112 on Dec 16, 2025, 2:28:42 AM

" Idk, probably 80%+ of people are usually following builds and know enough as to not die even once to random campaign bosses, I know newer players will probably die, but newer players are different from recurring players that return every league. They will take longer on every step, and it's a learning process for them. Main issue is really the humongous maps filled with a bunch of nonsense sidequests that amount to nothing burgers. You want the recurring players to play the game, not to feel like it's a burden to flow through if they want to. |

" +1 There’s too much on the critical path / mandatory todo list, and the areas that these items are in are huge |
