Remove Divine Orb Eldritch altars
" I already posted that I like the Divine Altars (read above if curious). But just wanted to share another tale of woe: My first ever Div Shrine I got halfway through the map, and got a grand total of 0. :D I guess that's why I always run Reds. I know of the highs Div Altars can give. But that one felt pretty damn bad and near ruined my motivation that league. |

Blue altars lost the only remotely valuable currency on it - orbs of scouring.
I wonder if exalted orb mod will be a little more common, now that exalts are being made way more common in general. Cos currently exalted and divine orb mods are equally rare. I will play with Destructive Play. Fuck altars, been doing them for way too long. |

Apart from the currency, I think the div card rewards are better from blue altars. I got a few Sephirots, a Brothers Stash etc. from them, although I only ran them for a day or 2 early on in alch+go maps. You can also get Home, Desecrated Virtue (disabled in 3.28) etc.
But yeah for currency I much prefer Exarch altars. Slow and steady. |

So it looks like the general opinion of folks replying seems to be that the div altars are in a good spot, but at the same time most of you dont play with Eldritch anyway. I dont get it, whats the harm in getting rid of it then and replace it with another bubble gum currency?

Your original argument was they should be removed bcs they're too OP. Now you say they can be removed bcs most people don't run them (because they are not powerful enough). Which one is it?
If they are, after all, underpowered rather than overpowered, what's the harm in keeping them? That way you have the choice between steady bubblegum currency (exarch) and highly volatile lottery/jackpot mechanic (eater). I don't see the problem with that. |

Im not able to make any impact at all if im the only odd man out... Fair enough...
My original point, to which I still stand, is that they can be way too strong... Which is why I feel obligated to hunt for them... And for cases when they are bad, its super demoralizing... On top, most people defending it dont run Eldritch anyway, which is why im saying whats the point of having them in the first place... |

It's a gamble. Pull the slot machine handle enough times, you might win big.
But as for them being "imbalanced?" Lmao, even. Do you honestly think that GGG don't know how often their slot machines are paying out? |

I can list from memory more than 10 drops that can occur and value more than 20 divs that you drop once by altar in a entire league. They should be removed too?

" Sorry bro...that's a YOU problem, not a game problem nor a problem with the altars themselves. Do you feel that way about pretty much every single other endgame juicing strategy that poops out currency? Because there are a lot of them. And yet you are choosing THIS one to say it needs to be changed. That's the problem with FOMO: it is unrealistic and doesn't offer a mathematical or unbiased assessment of the TRUE mechanic. You need to ask yourself WHY many in this thread are saying they don't run the altars. Because that is precisely what you are missing in the comments on "the state of blue altars". You drew the conclusion that people shouldn't have an opinion on them because they don't run them, when the conclusion you SHOULD have drawn is that they don't run them because, ultimately, they ARE NOT too rewarding as you seem to think. Taking that truer conclusion into perspective, why would nerfing it make any sort of sense when it is already weak? Here's a similar example: getting something like Awakened Multistrike from a boss run. Would you complain about that drop? Because sure...that particular payout was enormous, but does it make sense to nuke the whole system because of one rare occurence? Or does it make far more sense to recognize that the likelihood of you getting that kind of payout is so rare that it balances itself out? This is what you are arguing. You couldnt add the one line of the quote of me acknowledging that I seem to be the only one having that opion?
Those apples and oranges comparisons with other" high payout systems" make no sense to me, because you are missing my point. |
