Read here to help keep POE free of JSP using trash-->
I believe you jspers are missing a point here. It's not about what great ol' chaps you are or how trustworthy you've become. It's all about the fact that you're introducing external currency into unique trading system, essentially ruining it and warping the economy.
Obviously we don't want that, hence the call not to trade with you lot. Have fun trading between yourselves I guess. Cry me a river and deal with it. While, sure, advertising is great, it mustn't come with trade system from other community. Your promises of great wealth to GGG are total bullshit too. I see you profiting in GGG's expense here as more likely. As for those bad apples among yourselves, judging by global in game they're already here. IGN: regss (for social tab)

the currency of jsp isn't affecting the currency of PoE so far (if it does, it will become a problem).
If anything, it HELPS the trading system because it's an incomplete system and it makes it possible to trade between player at a much more feasible rate. Trading items for orbs and then trade those orbs for more wanted orbs and again, for more wanted orbs. Then trade that really wanted orb for an item. This is annoying to do honestly. With jsp, you can sell items and low level orbs for an agreed price in forum gold which you then use for buying that big item you want. The major point here is that you eliminate the need to get higher valued orbs to get the even more valued orbs. As long as the seller and buyer both decide on the prices of their items, it should be good. Also, you should see jsp as a complement to trading, not as a replacement. Ie: Would you accept X orbs for your Y item? no? then would you accept Z fg for your Y item? I just want to also say that I am against people that use real money to buy forum gold and then proceed to buy items with it. I don't really like that you can also use forum gold earned from others games to buy PoE items, but I can deal with that. |

I do not think a points/gold system should exist where the devs have deliberately built the game to not have said system. It's just an exploitive behavior. The devs said no to gold, so play the game without gold please.
" I can't deal with it, it should not be tolerated. If the richest players of PoE are ones that theoretically have never even played or heard of the game then there's something very wrong going on. <Dregs of Theopolis>

" GGG does not intend to generate revenue with currency, they will make money mostly with esthetics. Therefore reaching the most people is the best way for them to get the money they deserve. As for the economy, i believe taking currency of the market only stimulates it.. since it creates demand. An economy with high demand is a strong economy, when it becomes saturated, people tend to loose interest. I have to admit that using external currency creates an advantage, i know GGG's stance on the matter, but i'm afraid trying to keep the biggest ARPG community on earth from playing the best ARPG since Diablo 2.. is unrealistic. Standard: Shiverlyss, Lythyssa, Solaris, Goldorak, Clash, Cleavage, Sunflow.

I don't understand why people dislike the d2jsp trade system. Sure, it's a little weird, but it's "economy", of sorts, has been up for years, and it's, at the very least, more balanced that PoE's, if only because of the fact that things can have real value there. The problem with PoE, at least right now, is that there is no economy. Yes, we know certain orbs are good, great even, and sometimes, extremely valuable, but the problem comes when someone asks the question "What's this worth?" People who use d2jsp can say "It's worth X forum gold" But what do you say in PoE? "Eh...it's worth around a chaos orb. Maybe an alch." That's..not a very good reference. The problem with PoE, is that it has no standard, and since there isn't a standard, there's nothing to relate to that standard. One guy could sell an item for a chaos orb, and another guy could sell that very same item, with the very same mods, for an alchemy orb, and no one would say something.
Telling people not to use d2jsp, I think, is pointless. First, you've got an already established community at d2jsp, who came to the website for Diablo 2, which is a game that PoE is highly similar, and some may even say copies what D2 did, which in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but since D2 and PoE have a lot of similarities, it's obvious that a website like d2jsp would end up supporting it. Second, it's like telling people to guess at their prices. Imagine there was no currency in real life, and that someone wanted to trade a chicken. Other people offered other animals, produce and services, and then one guy comes out, who represents a group of people with a "currency-like" system, where you know how much something is worth, and offers you say..5 Bison Dollars. At first you're kind of confused as to what these Bison Dollars are, so you investigate. Eventually, you find out that you can trade 5 Bison Dollars for 2 eggs, which you could then hatch into chickens, and make more Bison Dollars to trade for other things of value. Why wouldn't you do that? Sure, the other trades have their value, but you're not getting a hard, definite return, you're getting an estimate. Now, I don't personally use d2jsp, although I do plan on it, I just don't understand why people can't accept that there can be two forms of currency, and each can be good and bad. |

The directions for making a cup of tea call for a teabag and one cup of hot water, steeped for 5 minutes. Add some sweetener to desired taste.
Now some idiot pours in an extra gallon of water just cause he found it in the fridge. How does that tea taste now? Kinda diluted right? | |
"Not a particularly good analogy...well okay, it's fine for that domain, but..it's perfectly possible to just not let idiots into your house, but it's completely impossible to stop people trading outside a game. But blame is fun, I suppose. I prefer to just consider what's possible. If you live in a world full of tea-hating maniacs and where you can't lock your doors, then regardless of what you think of said maniacs, it's probably not wise to expect your tea to turn out well, and it's certainly just putting yourself through undue stress to get upset about it every time. I wonder how many players will actually stop trading with JSPers out of spite?
If you have something I want and I have something you want, I don't see a reason to let petty things get in the way of making both our characters a little bit better :). Oh, and don't worry about the game economy. No amount of forum gold will change the relative values of in-game items. If 1 chaos = 2 alch in-game, you'll always be able to sell 1 chaos for enough fg to buy 2 alchs back. What plagued Diablo 2 was the prevalence of bots, which made most in-game items much more common than they're supposed to be, and that was true whether you traded via D2JSP or not. This is an entirely separate beast from just having a 3rd party option to get your trading done easier and more reliably. |

It's inevitable in games that advocate alternate currencies, and even in games that do not. Put up or shut up. This is from a non-jsp'er.

" This sounds like a powerful argument against random currency drops. What if a new player finds a mirror? Why, he could trade that for items! Heck, this works with friends too. What if a new player has friends with some decent low-level gear they're not using? Gifts! If the game is that fragile, maybe some core mechanics need to be reconsidered. |
