Item Rarity - a stat no one likes

item rarity/quantity is even worse in this game than it was in d3, becouse in d3 you actually werent able to clear everything without the proper gear (atleast b4 they made d3 easymode) and the ability to kill was more rewarding in terms of loot than having lots of MF.
It was either stack MF and farm lower acts or goblins with lots of shitty rares, not able to get highest ILVL or you have crazy good gear and farm higher acts with highest ILVL drops - the best possible items. In POE everyone and their moms have beaten the game with atleast 1 character and are able to farm with crappy gear no problem. Theres no "you need gear to kill XX", becouse you can kill everything with crappy gear as long as you have the right links with gems. Why should I double character strengh if I can increase item quality/quantity for 5% of the price and still atleast double my effectiveness in farming in a lamer way. |

Hell no! What the hell is wrong with you people? Magic Find is the bread and butter of these types of games. I'm greatly disturbed how much Diablo 3 corrupted the fan base... a Diablo game without Magic Find is a shitty, dumbed-down piece of crap. Bugger off.
I love the way Path of Exile gives us two types of Magic Find. It's a GREAT addition. Item quantity and item quality. The synergy is so much fun. You see a HUGE different in loot drops with enough quantity those bosses shower you with loot. It is amazing. What types of idiots want to see this removed from the game? You are arguing to literally make the game less fun by removing something from it.. how dumb. GTFO lamers Last edited by PazOfExile#4565 on Feb 26, 2013, 12:06:48 PM

" Why the Ledge, out of interest? " Just to clarify, it is not the concept of these stats I dislike, but the D3 approach where farming without them is in fact a complete waste of time (or it was when I left @ Paragon 15-ish). I have no idea how relevant such stats are for endgame farming in PoE yet, perhaps no one does? If it turns out I can farm just fine without those stats and they only actually improve my drops a tiny bit, I'm happy to completely ignore them. I get much more gratification crafting or bartering for damage/survival armour with decent socket links and colours; Magic Find is just "meh, I don't want the hassle of having to get that stat as well!" Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress. " MF on your main gear was pretty much useless in D3. When for all purposes all of your valuable drops came from Champions, Rares, and bosses, swapping in MF gear let you get almost all the benefits of a MF set, while keeping the clearing speed of your primary gear. If a game wish to have MF as a stat it needs to be somewhat balanced in risk VS reward. If PoE manages this I don't know, but D3 and Guild Wars 2 sure didn't. |

" People are doing that here over 5l and 6l - which has nothing to do with IIR IIQ... so ya. Persoally, i dont like that they have two different stats completely feeding the effectiveness of your farming. It just means that much more handicapped you are gear wise as you chase two mods on limited mod slots for gear. GGG - Why you no?

I have absolutely no desire to play a farmer or ever do any farming. I want to have fun playing the game, or I won't play it. So in that regard, I highly dislike the "MF" stat.
But, what I've been doing so far, is trying to balance it. Keep it around 40%, while the rest of my gear gets upgraded and upgraded. I've been wearing these for like 20 levels, even though they have no slots I really want and the stats are now terrible. I'm going to keep them there until I find a comprably MF item to put somewhere else. I don't mind a little extra challenge to get a little extra stuff. I just hope it never becomes critical to stack a lot of it. I want to get good drops with it around 40%, I can live with that. |

I'd prefer if +magic find had a cap. This way i wouldn't worry about ALL of my gear having the stat. I would also add MF to the passive tree (if it's not there already), but the passive would also be subject to the MF cap. You would have the choice of using a passive with MF or using gear, or using a combo that adds up to MF cap.
MF as a stat on gear is not a fun stat IMO. I don't like deciding what to use based on it, it just doesn't feel like a choice i necessarily WANT to make, but one i feel i have to make. |

From my own experience:
Farm docks without Item Rarity = only magic items, and the occasional rare. Farm docks with Item Rarity = raining maps and rares (even though they're trash). I wouldn't sacrifice power for item rarity in high level maps though. "so you can see who has more PvPenis" - Chris Wilson
