Intense feelings about PoE's arachnids?

My girlfriend suffers from Arachnophobia, and when she saw the spiders from the church dungeon come crawling up she said, and I quote verbatim, "Oh fuck that, I'm not touching that game."

She also requires me to clear any spider-areas in other games (WoW, HoM&M, etc).

I think that the suggestions in this thread should be taken seriously -- it might not be a very large segment of gamers that suffer from it, but it'd be sad if they couldn't play. That said, it shouldn't in any way be easier or harder for arachnophobes; just replace the models with something else. Hell, undead apes crawling up the walls would work just as well (although maybe be a bit weird, I suppose). I guess it depends on how much work it'd be to implement.

Compared to DA2 or Skyrim the ones in this game hit the right note- spidery enough to scare me pantless but cartoonish enough that my arachnophobia doesnt trigger.

They do however make me really itchy.

I killed the weaver in Act 2, but when I hit the spiders crawling up the walls in the church i just turned off the game and haven't played it since.

I have Cryophobia. Please change every ice spell into fire.

i'm sorry you have Arachniphobia OP, really, I do. But I don't believe game developers should be forced to cater to everybody's fears/hopes/dreams/problems.

I'm terrified of the idea that crabs that shoot rocks out of their asses... but I'm not asking the devs to change it.

GGG did a great job with the spiders in the church. I hate them. LOL! I find them particularity creepy because they climb and jump. It's very satisfying to cast Fire Storm and watch them burn.

No harm in suggesting a paid cosmetic change to turn spiders into another model. I'd suggest Python-esque killer rabbits. ;-)

Is there any news concerning a no spider mod ? Or any other way to change spiders to something else ?

To be honest, looking at it from GGG's perspective (and they never replied to this yet), redesigning several mobs to something with less than 8 legs may not be an easy undertaking, and if it is on the list is it probably fairly low in priority.
