Yes. Crazy. I tried to new stuff this patch first, when I basically played everything else in the patch before. Mind-blowing.

And I don't played more characters because the patch isn't good. It's that simple.

Btw, that I played "Essence Drain" on a Lich has nothing to do with it being "meta". You know, if you would think for a second, you would see the obvious synergy of ED/C and Lich.

There is ton of build diversity in this game. People need to realize that just cause streamers do it doesn't means it meta or the only path forward. Just play the damn game, explore what you want to do, and figure how to make it work. Sometimes you end up being underpowered and GGG made it so easy to respec the entire tree.

its one league. they've heard the feedback. the next one will be better. simple as that. poe2 is not doomed. Jonathan is not some eldritch demon that the rest of the dev team is keeping at bay. just keep the constructive criticism up and don't be hateful and the game will improve.

tell that to all the people that quit to never come back. 500k player all time high to season 2 240k 14 days later 110k and dropping. people are reviewing it on steam and its not good. people where un happy in Jan asking for glitches and more to be fixed nothing happen.

The debuffs are way, way, way, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too strong. The honor bullshit is such a massive L. I was about to enter the final boss room on the third trial for my third set of points, and AFTER A LAG i got caught in one of those fireball stream traps. it took my honor from 99% to 0, and the whole trial failed.

And you have to start all over.

Good luck with trying to make a build work because you think the skill is cool, only to find out that after a longer time and investment, this skill leads you nowhere.
You know, not everyone has as much time as I, who can spend hundreds of hours per league with multiple characters and a dozen builds or is a long-term PoE vet who already created countless builds, thus knows how to make something work.
If you don't have enough early game build diversity, you will funnel most ppl into the same builds in the long run.
Did all the ppl switch to Amazon because she is the strongest in end game? No. She isn't. Ppl switched to Amazon because her progression to the end game is, compared to most other things, good.

And changing your build isn't the easiest thing either. Sure, gold respec is a thing, but what is with items, or skill gems, or spirit gems, or the ascendancy?
Let's say you started "Lich - Spectres" and found out, it's ass. Try to transition to "Essence Drain" if you don't have chaos-related items, the needed spirit gems, or have to complete the trial again because you want to go for another ascendancy.

Furthermore, the question was not "Am I, a PoE vet, able to make builds work?" because that's not an issue. The question is "How does it come that the build diversity in PoE1 is far greater compared to PoE2?" (in relation to the claim about streamers).

1. This is not some brand new ARPG, they do in fact have years of POE development behind their backs and yet they make same mistake that were already fixed in POE.
2. The more important one. They $#%#@@ poe on the altar of poe2, and that makes it perfectly reasonable to be angry about it.

I think the first point is probably the most daming one. When ppl talk about "they made things from PoE1 worse in PoE2", they not only refer to "zoom-zoom boom-boom" builds. It's about mechanics and QoL too.
It's an insult that the PoE community had to fight for so many QoL improvements in PoE1, and then after years we finally got them, but now, with PoE2 - they ignore it and go back without the QoL.
Do we have to fight for years AGAIN? I bet most are sick like me and drained by the "feel the weight" and "friction" nonsense, only because they hate QoL.

I didn't actually say anything about it in the post itself. It's just a video on build diversity and how restrictive it is. This video needs to spread like a fucking wildfire until GGG acknowledges and addresses it.
