Is the problem Jonathan?

Reddit, the forum, and a couple streamers are not the "majority".

NO, but recent steam reviews, forums do count especially when its a trend across dozens and dozens of posts, more than a "few streamers" denial coping hard on that one, and basically alot of discords, guilds, etc all seem to share a similar opinion on aspects of .2

So yeah, it is what it is man.

Darling, PoE 2 is simplified and much more accessible exactly because of those restrictions. I like them. I really don't need 1000 builds for every skill like in PoE 1. Yes it is alot of freedom but also alot of mess. Oh my god I'm so happy for skills restricted to a single weapon type! Means that less builds? Yes but that's good imo. Also the game is still unfinished and alot of new things will come so I really don't worry about build diversity for the future.
It's irrelevant how many new things will come because they follow the same restrictions too.

Sword and Flail Skills? Restricted to the weapon.

It's ok when you like the simplicity and that things are more streamlined and easier to follow, instead of having near endless choices.

The problem is that many of these "new players" try to convince us that it is actually good, that PoE2 isn't PoE anymore.
A good crafting system that less experienced people can use to smooth the progression, and is a long-term motivation for experienced people? Gone. Replaced with a slot machine.

Near-endless build diversity because you can combine X skill with Y weapon on Z ascendancy with whatever items, and could result in something good? Gone.
Replaced with a way of character building that is streamlined in a way that reduces creativity and exploration of mechanics.

And some say "Well, the game is just made for a new audience", but that wasn't marketed this way from 2019 to 2024 EA release.
What they actually sold was that they want to modernise PoE, improve many things, and make it more accessible for new players, not FOR new players (a different audience).
If they keep that direction, where mostly the new players are happy and the "PoE vets" are not, then I would say - they lied. They lied and tricked their community into supporting them for something they wouldn't support - if they were told the truth.

Should you think, "Well, who cares? If PoE2 isn't for the PoE1 community, they just have me and all the other PoE2 chills and can keep going", keep in mind...
if GGG has no problems to screw over their community build over 10 years, they definetly have no problem to do the same to you.

It sounds something like - in order for there to be more "good" people in the world, you just need to kill all the "bad" ones.

1. Leveling is not rewarding, the character progression is too slow. The build progression is gated by a lack of spirit gems dropping and skill gems dropping. I have noticed that level 7 and 8 skill gems barely drop. Also again in the late 30s.

2. Jeweler Orbs are too rare and this ties into my first point about build progression being too slow.

3. Mob damage is still too high. If the average player does not pick a Meta build like LS they found online, they will die and they will die a lot. Dying is not fun, getting one shotted is not fun.

4. There is no pathing in narrow areas and mobs will swarm you and trap you in. There is no dodge rolling out, you are just dead.

5. There is no build diversity. You are forced to play a meta build to have any type of fun. What is the point of all these support gems, skills and ascendancies if everything outside of the few Meta builds does terrible damage. Why is fire so bad?

6. Drops are not exciting. In other games you are excited to kill the next mob to see what drops, in POE2 you are killing mobs hoping for a spirit gem. Its sad. I know this has been brought up, but GGG apparently ran sims and they think its good so they are just going to increase boss drops. GGG your sims are wrong. Again, listen to your players.

I can't stress how bad the campaign leveling experience feels. I love to make alts and run the campaign an abnormal amount of times. Its just not fun. If it is not fun for someone that has put in 600+ hours, how do you think it will be fun for a casual player? Casual players will not play this game in its current state. I know this is pre-release, that is why I hope my feedback is received with an open mind and it is understood that I want the best for this game.

1, 2 are somewhat true. Severe lack of basic jeweler orbs and lvl 3-6 spirit gems during the campaign. Skill gems are abundant enough.

3, 4, 5 are all mostly skill issues. There is a little bit of truth, but you are exaggerating a lot, and there are fire builds that do okay.

Regarding 4, here's a tip. Equip a second weapon (e.g., spear/mace) and use a leap skill.

They should just add guard skills. It would help alleviate a lot of issues the game has. I have no idea why they gave us charms instead. Isn't this game supposed to be the one with more 'engaging'/'active' game-play?

Well yes, but actually no.

If you want to play a build that throws Fireballs and lets rain fire from the sky - you can technically do that, but you won't get far because it sucks.

If you want to channel your inner fire and blast enemies away, you could use Flameblast, but well, they nerfed it so it's not usable as main skill anymore.

If you want to command a burning legion, you could use Raging Spirits and Arsonists, but they are nerfed so hard, you won't win a war.

If you take a deeper look, there aren't really fire builds, there is just A fire build - Ember Fusillade.
Ember Fusillade with Fireball.
Ember Fusillade with Fireball, Solar Orb, Flameblast.
Ember Fusillade with Bla.
Ember Fusillade.

Well, and builds that use Fireball as a trigger for all their Cold Skills.

And sure, if you put in many, many hours and try to find some Fire build that works even in endgame, then it's probably just an oversight of GGG and will get nuked next patch.

I would like to ask those who are unhappy with the patch, have you heard the phrase "my main metric is online" during the interview? I hope, people, you stopped logging into the game and supporting online?
Yes. Yes it is.

But I've been literally temp banned from these forums for criticizing him. So apparently you're not allowed to discuss that if its the problem.

All I can say is that censoring/silencing your critics ultimately does you no favors in the end. I don't agree with this approach. But it's not my company. I'll just leave it at that.
Yes. Any other questions?
There are two answers this question.

The first answer is YES!!!

The second answer is a lie.
Does the intended vision/gameplay even emerge in current state of the game?

The general statement from various interviews is that they want players to have a variety of skills to deal with multiple scenarios (since now you can theoretically have 10+ 6links)

Over .1 & .2 I had 3 toons over 90, and every time I ended up using 1 or 2 buttons
From the apparent game balance, there is no way to make hybrid skill set do better than dumping all possible stats into one thing

Maybe some other avenues need to be explored, rather than keep making gimmicky skills (that force some dev designed interaction) to force players to use "combos" -- this only makes weak build diversity and skills themselves feel weak
