If you had the chance to design a weapon or a piece of armor... what would it be?

Hi,

I would have two items in mind, though neither is a weapon or an armor.

Flask: The Fair Share

Duration: 7 seconds
75 of 75 Charges
Consumes 75 Charges on use

Consumes all charges when leaving town.
You cannot gain flask charges during flask effect.
Upon use, consumes 50% of maximum charges of every other flask in your belt.
All flasks except "The Fair Share" of nearby party members are instantly refilled.

The idea behing the flask is, that you can equip your character as a pure supporter and give your allies a shock- or bleed removal the moment they need it or to refill the MFers flask right before the boss-kill.

Ring: The Temptation of Plagiarism

Basetype: Zinc Ring (has no implicit stats)

Levelrequirement: 1

When applying this ring, it becomes an exact copy including name, basetype and requirement of an already equipped ring in the other slot.
If the copy is unequipped while still wearing the original, it becomes "The Temptation of Plagiarism" again.
If the original ring is unequipped while still wearing the copy, both rings are destroyed immediatly.
Cannot copy "The Temptation of Plagiarism".

The idea behind this ring should be obvious...

Those are my ideas.

+0.1 life recovery rate for each minion controlled by player
+0.5 life recovery rate for each totem controlled by player
+0.5 Animated Guardians life recovery rate for each rare item equipped on Animated Guardian
+(4-10) seconds increased duration on animated weapons
+(12-38)% increased item rarity on Monsters killed by Minions
+(12-38)% increased item quantity on Monsters killed by Totems
55% decrased item rarity on Monsters not killed by Minions or Totems
-1 max Skeletons for each Totem controlled by player
-1 max Zombies for each Totem controlled by player
+1 max Totems
+(17-38)% chaos resistance
+(8-26)% all elemental resistance
Minions and Totems deal 1 damage to controlling player on death
Necromantic Aegis
One gem socket max
Passive skill in Moonshard supports all minion and totem gems
Cannot use minion or totem gems in Moonshard

Let less be more

If the minions from dominating blow worked with this, that would be so overpowered.

I had 20 minions and 2 totems as average count in mind. That means Energy Shield would be pretty much non-existant (less minions = more energy shields they have and vice versa), they would have life regeneration of 3.0 and would probably deal around 2-4 damage/second to the controlling player, depending on creation speed. So other effects like dominating blow or that mine that turn monsters into minions could create a higher damage output and a higher life regeneration for minions. I used 5.1 life recovery rate once with life on hit on zombies and they had a noticeable increased life span. But nothing game breaking, and heavy hits still kills them quite fast.

What did i do wrong? Im asking since im a newbie (its my first character and im level 66 atm of this post) so there might be a lot im missing. Just saw that topic and thought to give it a try. ^^'

I just thought that if the converted monsters from dominating blow worked with this, it might be overpowered. But that's because when I read you original post, it sounded like those life recovery rate bonuses (which I assume is life regen.) was applied to the player. Which apparently wasn't what you had in mind.

If the life regen bonuses did apply to you, and it worked with converted monsters from dominating blow, the ability to convert large packs of monsters with dominating blow and then get all of that life regen would just be ridiculous.
I'm pretty sure his inspiration comes from Soul Reaver:Legend of Kain series. It looks just like the sword in the the game. I would like a better weapon specific to my Spectral Blade tank build. lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbXivBRgQIk

your ideas?

Soul Reaver looks like a blatant rip off of Storm Bringer, down to the re-phrasing of
"I was a thousand times more evil than thou." which the sword utters after killing its wielder.

For those that haven't read the Elric series, I highly suggest it.

I would do a Two-Hand Shield:

Last Resource's Solution
◙ Base Item - Pinnacle Tower Shield [the Sprite that appears when it's unidentified]
◙ Chance to Block: 28% [40 with the Bonus]
◙ Armour: 20*Base Level
◙ Requires Level: 10, 3*Base Level STR

◙ Can't use a Weapon while this item is on
◙ Your Attack is equal to your Defence/10
◙ +25-75% Increase Physical Damage
◙ Reflects 5-50% Physical Damage to Melee Attackers
◙ -25% Attack Speed
◙ +10 to Level of Power Gems in this item
◙ -20% Movement Speed
◙ +12% Increase Chance To Block
◙ Extra Gore
◙ 1-3 Slots

◙ Got a problem? Let me trample it with the Solution.

The main idea behind this is Tanks.
When we talk about MMORPGs, there is usually a Defensive Class with a shitload of defensive abilities/gear. Using that concept and seeing that this is a "Ram it down" game, why not something different seeing what the game as to offer?

it needs some kind of drawback at least

600 dps minimum.

What exactly is its drawback?

i've mentioned this a million times. it's fire only if on main hand, cold only if on off hand. it's 300-ish dps.

i don't blame you for misunderstanding. a lot of people have. i had asked rory to change the wording pre-release to include the word "when" in there, but he said it couldn't be done.

it's just frustrating that i have to explain this so many times through little to no fault of you guys. ah well.

I would design a unique fish, obviously.
An end-game viable (read: high DPS) physical 1H sword that proliferates chill to nearby enemies, and prevents freezing.

A [very] rough draft of the sword
Name: [To Be Determined]

Styling: Katana
Base Item: Eternal Sword
Base Damage: 30 to 49
Base Attack Speed: 1.6
Level Requirement: 66
-------------------------
(+)[75-175]% Physical Damage
(+)[10-20]-[30-40] Physical Damage
(+)[10-15]% Attack Speed
Adds [5-10]% of Physical Damage as Cold Damage
Cold Damage Cannot Freeze Enemies
Chill Proliferates to Nearby Enemies
(-)[100-125] Cold Resistance

[Flavor Text To Be Determined]

Note: the reason everything has a range is because RNG is one of the drawbacks* of the weapon

Oh wait, I do have the chance to design a weapon - I should probably email GGG again, it's been several months now :/
