Vaal skills are basically a giant noob trap.

Story of my life. GOD FORBID I RUN SPECTRAL THROW WITH ENERGY SHIELD.

Also, I can speculate all I want. GGG enjoys that shit. Sent that company a Speculation. Companies love speculations. Qarl does at least.

Also, I've thrown some pretty logical specs out there. This isn't out of left field or anything. I'm just calling it now to bump later.

Threads, like this one, are even a bigger noob trap. You speak, like u played all new content already, but in fact you only seen a small preview. You are buy far not the smartest and most creative person in the world, not even in poe community (neither am i) and all other hypers (negative and positive) out there. This means, some will eventually come up with awesome viable ideas to use those skills and you will copy them in the end. All you do is speculate, but presenting it like a fact, which can and will be taken wrong buy many in the community.

It's and arpg and not some mmorpg, where you can put countless amount of action bars on the screen and use any single thing, you can possible use. I good action games you have many tools, but only able to use few of them. What most build do now, is use their 1 or 2 skills, maybe a curse, some auras and rest spam with cwdt. You can just switch your active skill gem and have a "new" build. If u do it with weapon and some of supports, you can have even more "new" builds. Having many different things to combine adds variety and with it comes more fun replayability.

If you not gonna use those skills, fine, the bus with people, who are interested in your QQ is right outside, go catch it.

I wonder if the Vaal skills work as their common versions until charged up? That would mean you could just swap your main skill with the vaal version and UBER now and then with the same support gems.

Would love to see the Vaal Fireball with chain. :-P

As earlier discussed, I don't think Vaal skills can be activated until you meet the kill requirement. The blood splat indicates a lock.

Yeah, but that would be quite a downer. I now have not enough sockets for all the stuff and having to squeeze in a skill (including supports) I can only use once in a while would be quite difficult.
But we will see how that turns out.

I firmly believe it's possible to make competent posts in even the most poorly titled threads; thus, I wouldn't exactly call them "noob traps." Nor should you, unless you intend to imply you are one too for posting here.

Nevertheless, pretty good post. Grammar and spelling notwithstanding.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

... how is that a bad thing? I think it's good when you have several skills you want to use, but you can't, forced to choose a limited selection among numerous viable alternatives. I personally view this as a very good thing, encouraging much more emphasis on decision-making in build design.

I agree with all these design principles. I differ about the numbers. The skill bar is verging on being too small for a game of this complexity, especially when "move only" has become mandatory. And few builds can even fill the skill bar before running out of sockets due to the support/mana creep I described. As I said, the original intent was that we would be forced to choose more carefully among our support gems, which is also a good thing, but a little creep here is fine so long as the number of choices has increased along with it.

Yea well, you got the point. I stopped proofing so hard when most threads die terrible deaths from responses like these:

too long of a thread to catch all the content. think the title's a little troll-y but the post itself isn't that bad.

agree that yes balance will be paramount (just like the trigger gems)

also agree that yes single target vaal gems would be a more attractive option. some builds are clearing mob packs in half a sec so fighting mobs isn't that big an issue. it's the bosses that we really wanna use ultimate skills on :)
I share the early impressions with OP but I'd say yes for Vaal skills. Every build had been stuck at a same point where I'd be forced to play slowly or pay ALOT to break through (another weeks of painful farming) and Vaal skill might be a good solution. I don't have to change my build much but just need to learn Vaal style and unleash the power at those situations where I had to play slowly before.

Hooray!
Everything I do should be wrong so please correct me if I do it right <3
