Maven memory game feels stupid

The memory game is not hard or stupid itself, what is really stupid is trying to do the memory game in the last phase, while dodging the beams and trying not to die on the ridiculously stupid amount of degen sh1ts that stays forever on the ground, dude come on, the battlefield is small, the degen things are like twice bigger than the shaper or elder fight and stay forever in there, that things should dissapear after a phase change, the last phase its really stupid.

well, im not denying your opinions, its just opinions in the end and majority tends to win. But it would be good to hear what you would want to see in boss fights.
I would like to see less puzzle/platformer mechanics since that is a different genre of games altogether.

And in the worst case if it is absolutely necessary to have these mechanics, then they should introduce them throughout the campaign and in all the encounters leading up to this fight. So that players get a chance to get used to it/practice.

Presently, it takes a large amount of grinding for crescent splinters to get to the maven fight. And none of the fights where u earn the splinters share any mechanics with the maven fight. It makes no sense that the maven crucible fights and the maven herself have nothing in common besides the arena. Sorry but this is just incoherent game design.

GGG has heard your feedback and will oblige. They will put the memory game in all the pre-Maven fights.

Really don't like the platforming/puzzle direction that these endgame encounters are going towards. Sirus meteor maze is another example, although its much simpler when you know what to do.

+1 for whatever it is worth. I love the game otherwise, I'm definitely not here just to complain and rage but...
I hate platforming games with a passion.
I also hate doing memory games under pressure.

Let's try to keep the Action and the RPG part together here please?

It sucks when players can just faceroll everything because they're so OP so who cares to avoind ANYTHING, but to me it also sucks when character building doesn't matter anymore at all because no matter how you prepare, it's either twitch reflexes and memorizing exactly what you have to do when, or dead.

I'm sure there will be players out there who enjoy stuff like that, even insist that this is the only thing that matters and the only skill that should count for anything, and you can't ever please everyone, but I also do hope GGG will find a better way to spice up big boss fights and prevent them from becoming trivial with power creep than this.
I agree with most comments here. I enjoy the fight. I don't think the memory game belongs in this genre.

I actually can't see the memory pulses like you see in the streamer videos. I see the first pulse but not the others so its more like a guessing game.

I've tried all sorts of things. I even put my monitor into black and white mode.

I can see the pulses on streamer videos but not in my game. I even got my wife to come and see and she could not either. I'll keep trying with different settings in the UI board.

I realize its probably more to do with my eyes than a bug but that doesn't change the fact that I then am forced to die to get past that phase.
this mechanic should not be in a game like this...
got maven spawn lets say 6 or 7 times right now and it frustates me more and more dying caused by this memory mechanic.
The boss fight is fun and very hard - its ok if i am dying because i was not able to dodge an attack in the fight - but serously because I am not able to remember the correct order of plattforms I have to jump on while dodging degen
and beams.
This is absolutely no fun
My suggestion is: change the mechanic to something else than a randomly memory game
maybe a phase where 1 or 2 of 3 plattforms have degen ... and you have to dodge jumping on the not infested plattform

Its not arcade platformer either.
Yet we have TONS of orchestrated/phased boss fights you have to google and memorize before fighting.

Also not a roguelike.
And we still measure game difficulty and build efficiency in one-shot RIPs per hour...

Sooo... well... PoE is a mix of everything already.
Everyone hates something here.

Have not seen any footage yet of the Maven Boss fight, but the feedback you guys gave made me giggle as it confirmed how GGG designs the boss fights since 2.0.

It seems to more deviate to ground effects instead of evading real boss mechanics of the boss monster itself.

Started back in 2.0 with Malchai and his small hottub sized arena + ground effects and was "refined" over the next years with more area-denial zones + invul phases.

My guess is they just want the bosses to live longer for lore / vanity reasons as they spend much in voice acting and new visuals.

Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks
