Maven memory game feels stupid

Because it is stupid.

The entire fight is stupid.

I don't know why GGG is so insistent on making fights where you don't get to fight the boss.

Just let me attack the boss and kill them, or they kill me. I don't want to run around in circles for 25 seconds between invulnerability phases and do stupid little random tasks in order to be able to attack the boss again.

Maven fight is awful, but GGG is so sensitive that they are removing posts with negative critique of their 2000 years of bossfight mechanic development

I just did the fight earlier tday.
Died on P1 but ok, was still feeling the mechanics. After the first death it was ok to reach the last phase. Fight wasn't too bad because my build can both dish out some nice dmg and its pretty bulky. I enjoyed the fight and the mechanics were simple but cool to do.

Then the last memory puzzle attacked. Cmon GGG I take meds for ADHD, I am biologically impaired to do this thing lmfao.
Yeah the fight definitely isn't as rippy as Sirus on higher levels, instead its like 80% platforming 20% actually fighting.
She doesn't feel epic at all. The fight is uninspired like others have stated.

Sirus although flawed feels like a final boss, the Maven is just lame.
See rage. Feel joy. Exultant. Moar!
The toy endures. Is it powered by Duracell?
Prove worth again! Solve calculus quiz.
Another sub 100 IQ ape for my collection.
Indigestion. Discomfort. Imminent incontinence. Absooorb! Give feedback!
Take vitality boon. Is the toy's kidney better? Make me feel joyyyy.
The Maven's invitation: Brutus' slumber party. The Brutus, Fidellius, Malligaro, Doedre, Izaro, Kaom, Gravicius, Mallachei, Dominus and Piety (alternate nightmare form only!) surprise gangbang, Nomad! Decuple as hard!
You have proven your might, nomad. You have also proven your ignorance. The maven used to be a maiden, but now the rhoa is cooked. It will surely call for its progenitor. Its male angry progenitor, Nomad!

my post that i made week ago in some other thread was deleted because i said something like "f*** this boss, f*** your game", so i will speak now in more calm form

this boss is, of course, the worst in the history of the game
memory game is a disgrace
uninteresting, uninspiring
questionable visual clarity, degen zones, rotating beams =

basically there are no good boss fights since uber elder was introduced, [Removed by Support]

funny thing is how irrelevant is your char in the fight. failed to walk out of brain explosion - dead, failed to step the right platform - dead. no matter how you build your character, so that removes the whole relevant layer of the game before the fight - the aspect of your character building

memory game phase should occur 1-2 times per whole fight, and some other interesting attacks should be added to the boss in other phases. but, again, the probability of changing this boss in a adequate way by developers is near zero (hello sirus), so we are probably just wasting our time in this topic

what a shame and a giant fail, because otherwise the expansion is quite decent
dead game
bring back 3.13

I was excited to fight her until I saw there was a memory game. I'm a new player so I already got a shit ton of stuff on my plate to understand so I'm just gonna ignore Maven. If it was a straight up fight then I'd do it. I still gotta deal with that scumbag Sirus and I'm 0-2 against him. I hate invulnerable phases in any game and especially in a game like this where you could make a nutty build that destroys a boss but you can't show it off because invulnerable.
GGG please allow Flicker Strike on Hollow Palm
having read about half the posts at this point, i'll just throw in my 2 cents on top of the pile, just for those shits and giggles;

puzzles do not belong in a game like this.

remove the traps from izaro's lab, and the lab is fine

remove the environment management from the sirus fight, and it's fine

remove the memory game from maven fight, and it's fine

if players die more to environment management, than they die to the bosses own actual mechanics, then that's an issue. Having the boss teleport back and forth and going invulnerable is fine. However, having the boss hide, not being attackable, while you struggle to just manage the environment around it, is per definition not part of a boss fight, since the boss itself is not actively participating here. Also, it is not part of an ARPG.

For reference, this reminds me of these maps in Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne where you ran through a maze, doing nothing but dodging mechanics belonging to one large maze, and sort of having to restart from the beginning if you died.

But then, that was fine, because it was a custom map, it was not part of the core game.

Similar to this, GGG could take all their labyrinth traps and environment management and memory games and collectively move them to some side-area-separate part of game, kind of like Heist or Incursion Pyramid or something. And then the 0.00001 % of playerbase that are masochistic enough to actually enjoy this "rainbows/flowers/unicorns stuff" can go to that part of the game and have fun with this while the rest of us stick to playing ARPG.

On that note, GGG, why not implement checkpoints in labyrinths? Losing your ENTIRE PROGRESS on death - especially if you die to traps - is a hardcore mechanic being forced on softcore players. A mechanic that inherently doesn't belong in an ARPG in the first place. I get the point, but maybe make us spawn directly after the last izaro phase that we completed, instead of having to start completely over again. Only make us start completely over if we fail the very first of three fights (or die before that, somehow). For instance, I've stopped enchanting helmets because labyrinths are way too big a hassle to be worth these additional few percentages of power creep. I'm fine without it, but the simple fact that i'm not doing this because i don't wanna keep running labs, is an issue in itself. And i know i'm not the only one. Otherwise at least re-work how enchanted fossils work, so that they don't re-roll other affixes? That would go a long way already.

Anyway, ranting done, props to anyone who made it to this point, have a nice day

Worst bossfight in game so far. Solid 0/10
Whoever in dev team puts more and more emphasis on high precision movement should play his own creations with fluctuating 120-160 ping. Any mode, lockstep or predictive. With lockstep your movement is very unresponsive and with predictive you just desync and server side will kill you. This game doesn't offer consistent movement precision that is required for many "bullet hell" or puzzle encounters and yet we get more and more of them.
Not to mention the amount of things going on at the same time is very out of hand. Last phase specifically.
1 - memory game itself with 3 to 5 pieces that you can't observe reliably
2 - degen+slow puddles on the ground from previous phases or things from other bosses as ads
3 - expanding degen zone so you have even less space to move and it will nuke you after short time
4 - spinning door beams with 10sec debuff that completely disables your regen
5 - gaps in beams moving too as if spinning beams weren't annoying already
6 - upon completion degen zone still explodes for some reason
And best counterplay to this cluster**** is simple logout and wait until its over in grace period. When winning move is not to play speaks volume about this encounter design.
What happened with old good boss design where you didn't had to manage entire screen of effects and just counterplayed different boss mechanics by one or sometimes two at time?
A joke boss fight, last phase with memory phase is fucking ridiculous. 0/10 skipping it until some fixes.
