what happend to GGG?
" Nah, D4 is just a bad product of a bad company lol " I think it's more the case that PoE1 is just not the game the new game director wants to have, hence a second game. " If it was that easy, I can kinda see that the NZ work regulations make it hard to find devs since not everyone with required knowledge and experience for mentioned positions is interested to move to NZ just to work, especially while many similar jobs offer the option to be flexible via home office work. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

GGG's fiscal year ends Sep 30. Here s a link to the most recent financial statements. The account does not appear to be US GAAP accounting but the company did well in 2023. the notes at the end are among the best reading as they explain how many of the numbers are derived.
FWIW, staffing costs in 2023 were up ~$800,000 NZ$ over the previous year while server hosting fees were down about $1.1 million to a total of $5 million. Fun stuff if you like numbers. " AFAIK NZ employment regulations make it awkward, like Canada they have to show they offered the roles domestically before they can look abroad and it ends up being convoluted to hire from out of the country. Also I can think of some elements where it would be an absolute ballache to develop as a remote worker, some would be absolutely fine though it really depends on what your specific role is - but that also cuts down drastically on flexibility of the workforce. They might well have a few already for example which would limit any further remote hires. |

I wouldn't presume to just scale the staff to solve all these problems. Adding more people makes organization harder. I think we all benefit from the fact that GGG is a medium sized company, and not a behemoth bureaucracy.
