Long Time supporters and "heavy spenders" should be getting more than one key.
I will admit to some wistful disappointment that I can't be Santa Keys and provide half my friend group with PoE2 access keys (without paying for a shitload of packs, anyways).
But I also understand why they're limiting free-key access. The landscape of gaming is different these days, pre-order purchase metrics (which is what these early Core Supporter purchases count as) are a crucial yardstick for modern gaming companies. Every Free Whale Key is a pre-order they don't get. That's partially offset by the fact that most of the people getting a Free Whale Key are the ones most likely to buy a Core Pack anyways and so they'll get a 'spare' key, but I also imagine that was part of their thinking with why you only get one Free Whale Key. I don't begin to have enough dosh for a Liberator of Wraeclast pack so I can supply all my friends with keys, but also most of my friends interested in the game have already secured their own Core packs or have plans to. I could find a use for one spare key, maybe two, but beyond that it starts getting weird, and I can see that being a Thing. I do wish it was easier to share some of the proceeds from a supporter pack purchase, though - give people a reason to go in together on the bigger packs. Maybe, Slayer, you could ask your guild if anybody wanted to chip in for a Liberator of Wraeclast with the promise that all the points in the pack will go towards guild upgrades, provided there's any left for you guys to purchase? |

Hi Slayer,
I'm from 2013 player too and I understand your point and your disappointment. I will be so glad to have at least one more key to gift to a clan-member who can't afford that, and is why I will purchase a pack, to get another one. But we should see this from other prism: we are so lucky because we get one free key. GGG is giving us a free key because they want. They could said us "the beta will only available after purchasing a key, no free keys will be redeemed" or "we would grant a key for only who played more than 10k hours", or "free key only for streamers", for example. After the last preview of the early access, a lot of friends asked me if I have a free key to get one. And after thinking I feel would be unfair to give them a key because some of them never played Path Of Exile and didn't supported this game on any way. As you said, I spend enough to get some keys, but (in my perspective), I spent those money to improve the swag of my character and to help game to growth. This is my point of view, it's a gift and as a gift you should accept it. Sorry for my poor english and I expect my language is cordial enough. If not, sorry, it's not the objective of this answer. NO, you already got the value of your money in mxt and qol, there is no reason to actually add anything else to what is already given by the product you willingly decided to obtain; although is very kind of GGG team to give the supporters an extra for the purchases via this EA key, any other B company would charge everyone regardless.

" Bs, most of GGG's income with MT comes from people who spend just enough to get stash tabs |
|
" That is actually the same i would say right now. Value already claimed. @ GGG, thanks for the key, i appreciate that. |

" im not sure about poe but normaly f2p follow the 80/20 rule this means 80% of the money comes from 20% of the players if i remember right you can apply that rule again |

I have spent enough to get 2 keys, do I deserve them no.
BUT if I give them to new players (saw the post about potentially selling them and anyone who does deserves to be banned), that is new potential revenues streams. I’d also like to point out GGG themselves in FAQ post said if you don’t get one buy a pack or ask a friend, and if I get just the one key I ‘deserve’ I am not giving it away ;) Last edited by Timbo Zero#8289 on Nov 25, 2024, 1:21:51 PM

" In fact....the f2p model is the exact opposite of this: the very few whales provide the majority of the funding. The small fish amount to almost nothing in the grand scheme. It is precisely for this reason that the vast majority of development in f2p goes to the upper cieling of the game.....and hardly anywhere else. It isn't really even 80/20.....its more like 95/5 or even more drastic in favor of whale spending. Consider that even in this thread you have folks that have spent thousands of dollars. That is the equivalent of hundreds, if not thousands of "just enough to get stash tabs" accounts. Streamers spend in the 10s of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands across the decade. There are whales that buy a $480 pack every single league. To the thread: no. Past heavy spenders and long time supporters should not be getting any additional keys. Be happy they even gave out 1. You already received what you purchased. I don't expect the hoagie place down the street to give me a free sandwich because I've bought so many in the past....unless of course they have consistently advertised that would be the case. You got whatever MTX you spent money for, that's what you got. Anything else is a bonus.

I'm more confused why people accept there being an entry fee at all.
Not to mention streamers already playing. They don't even have to be OG streamers. Just views. People popping out of the woodwork with 0 PoE experience or previous support. This game didn't get at the top of ARPGs because of viewers or advertising. It got there because of it's dedicated fans. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac
