Cold Chronomancer Megathread. Fully updated.

Dropping here real quick.

Unfortunately, Frostbolt became irrelevant right after I started doing Simulacrum and Delirious maps. Mobs became too tanky for it.

I don't have any idea about it for now (besides doing pure Frostbolt build), so just rolled Ice Nova + Frot Wall, like Ruz.

Well, although I lost my love for this gameplay long ago, I love how rewarding deli+breach maps are more.

At least, don't have to wait Frost Bomb to detonate walls.

P.s. faced that temporal rift problem a lot today.

cant recommend, blink+cod+comet enough.
I even noticed comet's quality is +2 crit chance. giving a base of 15%.

my level 20 blink, (with +skills wand) 15% quality, ingenuity, and 12% chrono cdr, and 10% anoint, and 10% in passive tree, gives me a 2.07s CD blink.


I am eyeing a chaos degen witch next.. unclear if hexblast, or degen/contagion.
blood or infernal. was leaning blood, but if I end up degen, infernal makes more sense.
a bit tempted to swap to chaos degen with this chrono..



Edit: also, further experimenting.
i dropped EB/MOM again, and prefer it without.
1755 hp, 2300mana with. 204ish mana regen. only 4 passives needed.
1755 hp, 1391 ES, 1342 mana without. 214man regen. grim feast giving up to 2700 es. and 24% damage taken from mana. about 9 passives invested.

4k effective hp with mom/eb. assuming mana was full.
3500 effective hp with hp/es and 24% mana before life. up to 4700 with stacked grim feast. and mana flasks/recoup is not tanked by 50% via mom.

Grabbed Roil, for even bigger aoe. not running zone of control atm.

Running grim feast, +clarity+ herbalism. 30% inc recovery, buffs the instant flasks well.
blink+ingenuity
cod comet+impetus+cascade.

wish I could fit archmage or cast on freeze.

I wanna try cast on dodge too at some point, but not yet.

I'm still rolling CoF Frost Wall, I love it way too much for clearing. And CoC Comet. During clear comets raining around like crazy, but they hit nothing, because CoF Frost Wall kills everything before comets even land. The build is very satisfying to play.

Bossing is very similar to Monik's videos, except I play without Time Freeze. It's easier to do bosses with Time Freeze setup for sure.
I liked Monik's idea with 2 weapon set and Soul Offering, doing that too now.

After anointing amulet, getting some 2% mana runes and changing some jewels I'm now at 4166 ES and 4159 Mana. It feels pretty comfortable for all kind of content. Can easily tank few hits from Breachlord (tier 4 one, when you have 6/8 points in breach tree).

I still have 2 more jewels with "damage taken from mana", which are useless now and they need to be replaced with Max ES ones.

Not sure how much % Mana on Kill do I need exactly... I have 7% now, it feels okayish, but I think I had 9% before and I was permanently full mana during map clears. Now with 7% sometimes I see that my mana is not full, but it's nothing critical and can be easily fixed in couple seconds of passive regen.

Oh, also, I have 381 spirit (using 374). That's with spirit from juicy scepter and body armor. My persistent buffs are: CoF, CoC, Archmage, Blasphemy (Temp Chains) and Blink.

Btw, I tried Grim Feast before, when I had only 2.4k ES, lower mana and had couple more problems with my build - I didn't like it. And now there is simply no need for it, although probably I can have nice ES now with it. But I'll try it again just for the purpose of easy clearing where you turn your brain off and melt everything through and don't even care about flasks or ES regen. Would be cool to get 23 more spirit to fit in Grim Feast somehow, although I don't have any more skill slots (probably would need to drop something or get a +1 ring).
Alternatively, of course, I could drop Blink, get Grim Feast and use Heightened Curse support on Blasphemy + Temp Chains. That would probably make my Slowmancer really slow, but also "tanky" af.

UPD:
Just tried Grim Feast again. 8.3k ES when fully stacked. It's very easy gameplay, just run around and periodically cast frostbolts (no need to spam them). However, Blink is such a QoL improvement and it's so boring to play without it, especially in breaches.
I didn't like Grim Feast when I tried it first time because I probably didn't have enough slow on my Blasphemy + Temporal Chains and I got hit a lot and it didn't really work well. It works well now, but the absence of mobility is really lame.

1. Why you don't use hypothermia curse in your final build? Do you have other sources of minus cold ress?
2. How excatly cast on freeze works? For example if I have gem setup like:

- Comet: Cold Penetration + Leverage (questionable) + Considered Casting
- Cast on Freeze: Comet + Spell Echo.

This comet casted automatically from cast on freeze will be supported only by spell echo or will be also suported by Cold Penetration + Leverage + Considered Casting gems?
One more problem, also u wrote about Cast on Freeze: Comet + Spell Echo - I can't put spell echo gem as support to cast on freeze, how you do this?

I thought I had more than enough ES, and tried to opt out of some passives. Deli maps with juiced 8/8 breachs showed it wasn't a good decision.

Simulacrum was the second call. A bit scared doing it for the last set of passives as for now.

Was surprised by how much things have changed since I moved to a harder content.

1. I'm running with the Archmage, so I do mostly lightning damage. So Conductivity is more fitting. I'd like to fit that, but it's not needed.

It would cost me 1 passive point (Whispers of Doom), and a skill gem socket. Heavy Frost notable does a good job in most cases (hits ignore ele res on frozen targets).

For bosses I have more than enough damage already, for other stuff I don't have enough time to cast curses manually.

2. CoF-Comet will be supported by Spell Echo only in this case. It is a separate Comet instance. Are you sure you ain't using spell echo anywhere else? Like on Frost Bomb? We can use only 1 support gem per build here unless playing Gemling Leg.

Anyway, as I can see you are just starting to play this build.

Early, it's perfectly fine to get -res, and we all were doing it before some point.

Two more questions, u picked passive: Chaos inoculation which sets your life to 1. So life flask have no effect and its unnecessary? Also ascedancy skills circular heartbeat and the rapid riever has no effect with chaos incoulation picked?
I'm asking becouse I'm playing on Xbox and im trying to save more buttons.

Damage supports don't increase spirit reservation. And I'm, sure you have enough int stat.
Other than that, there is only one reason to fail fitting spell echo into CoF.

You need to fit damage skill into CoF first before putting supports here.

Like you wrote earlier:

Yes, both life flask and life recoup won't work with life with CI.
how does snapshotting work for weapon swapping?

like for example, this setup:
weapon slot 1. for blink+CoD+comet
+4wand, +2 shield
+200% crit chance.
+55% energy gain.

weapon slot 2. for aoe hits. wall/bomb.
+5 cold wand/scepter.
+110% aoe.

Does the Comet cast, get snapshoted on cast, or will its stats change on the fly, as I swap weapons?
Its my understanding its snap shot on cast correct? this is why +duration weapon swaps work for buff/offerings.


In hindsight.. setting blink to a weapon slot doesn't work "right".
Instead of swapping weapons when you active dodge/blink. it deactivates blink, until you swap weapons. backwards. so, sadly, the idea isn't going to work correctly.

still curious about the snapshotting question.


I will probably later on today, go through every spell, and see if anything else works well with Cast on dodge. Comet is an obvious winner. large aoe, large damage, cast time bypassed. cold/elemental damage. it casts AT what you want it to. but, its high energy cost means, high energy gain/gear needs.
it would be interesting to see if something else works well, without the massive +energy gain req.
fireball perhaps, fireblast?, hexblast..
Monik, did you get Shattered Crystal for your Ice wall + Nova combo?

I have the same thought bc of duration weapon swap. It should have stats of weapon set of choice.

About Blink, yes. Thats why I opted out of it for now. Although, I have a desire to fit it.

No, Ice Nova should always crit with Ambush (>50% crit chance), so the damage is enough for it to break walls with Icicle alone (or w/o it if your wand doesn't have +x all spells).

If you can't break the wall - be sure to check your Nova crit chance. Fit Inevitable Critical to boost it if you have <50%.

If that can't help - allocate Crystal for sure.

Some other notes:

- Dropped Arvil's Wheel (50% inc duration). 17s Time Freeze. I haven't fit Blink yet, so running with it now instead of CDR shield. Also, about 17s Offering too.

- Nova+Wall requires cast speed to feel good (0.6s for both Wall and Nova feels ok), so got a 1d wand to check stuff:



30% damage loss in comparison, but feels just better to play than with 0.8s cast speed.

The next upgrade should have +cold spells instead of crit damage.

I thought a bit about stat priority on wands, and it seems crit damage is the least important. 30% crit damage is 2 small passives from tree. 80% crit chance - 8 small ones. And we can't get +3-4lvls from the tree at all.

About the prefixes - spell damage is the one. Cold damage is shit, Lightning damage is ok.

- In Nova+Wall AoE is extremely important too. 60% is a bare minimum, yes. I got both Roil and Reverberation wheels, and have 20% on jewels (110% in total). This is enough to cover swapping Magnified from Blasphemy to Wall.

Yeah, walls + comet clear half of the screen with that.

- The biggest downside of this setup...are tight maps with lots of obstacles. Crypt became very unpleasant to run, while for Frostbolt is is almost the best map xD
