POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

"
Wrote here couple of times, last time on December 22.

I played 100+h on Win 11 23H2 without a single crash, updated to 24H2 and started to hard freeze almost every hour.

Later on I rolled back to 23H2 and 0 (!!) hard freezes for almost 10 days.

Until...

Until I bought a new PC as a late Christmas present, which had Win 11 24H2... and here we go again.

At this point TBH I don't rly care if it's Windows problem or game's problem, but I can't afford to brick my new PC. Have to drop the game until it's fixed. This feels pretty bad as one of the main reason for my PC upgrade was playing this game with higher FPS, and now I can't play it AT ALL.....

GGG, I, as many, MANY others, have supported you with our time, words and money. PLEASE, give us something back. WE WANT TO PLAY THIS AWESOME GAME. HELLOOOOO

Old PC: Ryzen 7 3700X/2060 super/32GB RAM/Windows 11 23H2 -> 24H2
New PC: Intel Core i5-14400F/4070 super/16GB RAM/Windows 11 24H2

P.S. Could anyone with some actual PC hardware knowledge let me know of there is any possibility for my new PC to be damaged at this point after hard resetting once/twice a day for a week or so? I just want to put my mind at ease. Maybe a program to check everything works properly? Thank you.

If you're concerned, simply don't run it.

At worst, spinning disk HDDs could be impacted by force shutdowns, but we're talking a lot of shutdowns.

Aside from that, you're also looking at the risk of data corruption, mostly limited to anything you're running at the time which obviously includes your OS.

The odds of that happening though? Not impossible, but not unlikely either. Really just depends on the state of your pc at the time, and how often you do it. Honestly, you'd probably be more likely having windows brick an update than experiencing an OS corruption from shutting down.

It's still not healthy though, so if you're really concerned then please just wait.

Sadly, POEuncrasher is no longer working for me. It's gotten far worse. Crashes are happening when just starting the game. POEuncrasher does not disable the CPU cores during startup, only during load screens.

Can we ask the POEuncrasher author (if you're here!) to please disable cores on POE start up as well?

Thanks!!

OR... GGG or Microsoft please get a fix for this asap!

Are you using the .NET version of the Uncrasher? It does disable CPU cores at startup for me.

& still working like a charm for me! *zero* crashes or freezes in over 100 hours of gameplay now. Guess I'm lucky?
Unfortunately I have same issue. Not sure if it is the windows which is updated or something else. I have tried limiting CPU usage to 95% and thank god for figuring out the affinity to prevent hard reset every time it freezes but the whole situation is annoying af. Have lost some trials mid progress due to that, breach maps etc.

I have read through this as much as possible, but clearly there is NO real tested solution. There is not even a clear understanding of the issue without GGG acknowledging and figuring it out.

I mean it is obviously Early Access and it was just released so kind of understandable. I just wish they would fix that before doing much else. Or at least provide a clear workaround solution to it so we can do it instead of messing up the PC systems with a bunch of ... bloat.
Turns out my 4080 got bricked 3 weeks ago when i started hard crashing in PoE 2.

In the first 3 weeks from launch, the game played flawlessly. Then instability suddenly came from nowhere. Some times i could play for long, some times i would crash immediately when loading.

Other programs that used the GPU began to also hard crash the system in the same way, with the same randomness.

Reverted to a 1070 and stuff at least works again.

Hopefully its not PoE 2 bricking everyones GPU.
That is not exactly what it says:

"Investigating cases where some players experience crashes related to Multithreading and have to restart their PCs. This seems to mostly be for players with the Windows 24H2 update."

The same as before:

Time will tell how accurate the MOSTLY is, I expect GGG gets crash reports and data we dont see. Perhaps allowing them to know things we as end users do not.

Actually you can, as explained in an earlier post (by me), the crash dumps are in ...\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production and you can open them with WinDBG

Can everyone please stop posting fixes that either don't work or temporarily work then break again or simply you think its what fixed it but it just randomly stopped and then breaks again. NON OF THIS WORKS.

THE ONLY SOLUTION IS STOP PLAYING UNTIL THEY FIX IT.

Well, bro, you're not right. You have 2 100% fixes

First : Turn off Engine Multethreading every time when you load a map and turn it on after.
Second: Rollback Windows 24H on 23H and everything will be allright.

lol are u serious? for real

what about me who are on 22h2 win10, rollback to win8?
and playing with Engine Multithreading off, still freezing.. how is this "100%"?

Your problem is not about initial one, update your windows on 23H than and try
Rolling back to 23H2 or running PoEUncrasher is not the fix. The fact that people keep parroting this is wild.

Normalizing downgrading your operating system or using sketchy 3rd party executables to jerry rig your system to run this unoptimized game is not the answer.

If people want to risk bricking their PCs to do this, by all means please do so -- especially because these 'fixes' don't work 100% of the time. But discounting this issue as anything but dire is intellectually dishonest.

Imagine if Diablo 4 had an issue like this at launch. This company gets a pass because the amount of glazing they get is unhinged.

It is a great game, but the response on this issue speaks volumes.
