I've disabled Thread Optmization on Nvidia control panel, and downgrade the nvidia driver to 560.94 (August 2024) as some of u guys suggested..
Oh my............
Just wanna say that im playing for 2 days straight without a single load screen crash.. long 6~8 hours atlas sessions again like crashes never happened..
If anyone is still willing to do some "workaround" to play, this one is worth a try.

No Poe Uncrasher

Ingame: Multithread Enabled all time
Vulkan
Nvidia Reflex Off
Windowed Fullscreen

Windows 24H2
5600x
GTX1660 SUPER
16gb ram

This locked up my PC on the first try.

did you rollback using DDU to ensure it actually installs the older details and not keeps something, nvidia is poopy when it comes to rolling back and actually doing it properly leaving shit behind. its slim, but it might matter.
Are streamers playing a different version of this game? I watch them play for periods on end and none of them crash, turn off multithreading when loading new maps, or even seem to have cores disabled. Wtf all of us plebes stuck with broken vrsion

I had hard pc loadscreen freezes on 24H2 but after rolling back to 23H2 they completely gone and now Microsoft forces 24H2 update to all Windows 11 users. :D

you can set target feature update to prevent it upgrading it, will hold that update till +6 months of its official supported time and setting this will stop the popups to upgrade during that time. this method will also allow security updates to continue as normal.

if you are on pro you can do this in group policy.

if on home you will need to do it through registry.

googling 'setting target feature update in windows 11' should find you the resources to do this, think the top search even has it such that they have made a donwloaded able regedit to do it simply if you are uncomfortable with editing registry.

it will be 2 fields
23H2 in the feature update
Windows 11 in the target windows OS, very simple and humane

thanks a lot

Tried it. Doesn't work. Win 11 still tries to download and install 24H2. Barely avoided it.

Nope. It got me. But, on the plus side, I played for over an hour and POE Uncrasher didn't report a "not responding" once. It'll take a week or less of testing to know for sure that the 24H2 may or may not be the problem. Who the hell knows anymore?

One possibly important note is that this is the 24H2 as of Jan 14, and I read an article that there's a new version on the insider program with a ton of fixes. Expect that to come down the pipeline soon.

Same here, about 75% chance the game will freeze the whole pc in a loading screen, and only way to make the computer responsive again is to hard restart the whole pc...

I did the most recent windows update which some suggested could be at foult here, but ofc it should work with the latest windows update, aint going to start doing any rollbacks for one game. We as the users shouldnt need to start to figure out band-aid solutions for stuff that are this game breaking...

The game is literally unplayable at the moment.

Gg, GGG.

at the moment? brotha i been having this issue since day 1, even after a diff version of windows, (win10 install key i've got) a new gpu (4060TI) and a new cpu went from a ryzen 5 5500 to a ryzen 7 5800x... this game is fucking busted man.

shame on the devs seriously "we're adressing it", is all we get at first, now it's "risk bricking your pc for us cause we can't fucking figure it out.

this is unacceptable, and have been ignoring my emails to support regarding a refund or some form of compensation cause this is beyond a fucking joke, i've basically been robbed/scammed of 40 bux, plus another for a copy for my mate, who also cant fucking play. 80 bux stolen off me for a product that doesnt fucking work, and when trying to reach out to em... crickets... fuck GGG the comeback from this better be fucking immense i swear to god.

imagine being those poor folks that paid 450+USD to support the devs, only to not be able to play, then be ignored here, in support and everywhere else they address issues with the game.

all it is going to take is 1 big name to make it a big fucking deal and we MIGHT stand a chance at getting more than 3 fucking people working on this issue.
If you have a NAS copy over your files onto the nas, its laggy as fuck when entering a zone for the first 15 seconds but at least I didn't get a freeze once since copying my files over onto the nas.

It might also work with a slower harddrive, so no SSD but I haven't tested this yet.

I tried everything else but nothing really worked well, POE uncrasher worked a bit but not 100%, still got a freeze occasionally.

time to fix this shit GGG

did you do it via group policy on pro or registry on home? if it didnt stop after telling the update to go awway and having restarted you have mistyped or misplaced something, or not applied the gpedit. its a really standard windows function, not really something to not work unless your in a domain overwriting it

Do note that activating group policy in home versions doesn't actually work, it will give you the menu, but most things will not actually apply

windows recently rolled a thing out that forces the update now, no getting around it, i woke up to it installed one morning after leaving my pc on to download something, even with auto-download updates off.
I can't say it often enough, again and again:

THERE IS NOW WORKING FIX, BESIDES POEUNCRASHER

So don't follow ANY advice given here, its 100% snakeoil and in the end it will most likely do more bad than good.

Its sad that Freezing Gear Games is letting this 400+ pages of misinformation running rampart, potentially making it worse for their customers when they listen to ill informed advice.

again:

THERE IS NOW WORKING FIX

they do that every year, this function still stops that, its specifically in windows to prevent that last rollout update., its more commonly used on enterprise because you cant just force a company to do it, it could cripple them.
