Continuous Stuttering/Lag Despite Stable FPS and Internet in PoE 2 Early Access

- Changing to 2.4g instead of 5g network
- dont use the auto gateway, go to Texas (I was California - just pick the 2nd best one for you)
- CHAT is surprisingly causing lags for me.
- type /global 999
- type /trade 999
- disable global chat and trade chat
- type /clear
- delete the client txt file in E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Path of Exile 2\logs
- disable triple buffering in graphics setting, this past patch messed it up
- Create new instances by Ctrl + left click on waypoints or portals - some servers are just bad, some are ok (RNG)

I tried these methods and they worked great for me. I found these methods in the previous pages of this thread. Posting this in case people are too lazy to dig far.

I think it's a mix of many problems though, hopefully this helps.

Trying to get third lab. on 1st floor (instance) no lags (3ms), on 2nd floor 50ms-1000ms wtf?! How can I reset instance, but without loosing progress???

1. Will help only those who connected through Wi-Fi and have problems with neighbors blocking 5g signal frequency from their router.
2. Right, chat messages may cause stutters.
3. This just change Global chat channel for you to number 999. No reason to do if you disabled Global chat.
4. This just change Trade chat channel for you to number 999. No reason to do if you disabled trade chat.
5. Right, disable all chats just in case.
6. Deleting logs won't do anything.
7. Maybe? Definitely turning on/off triple buffering don't change anything for me and don't affect network spikes.
8. Now that is the main thing. This is the only thing which really helps, because network more stable on server which closer to you. You need to create instances until you get server with lowest possible ping.
idc what u think. i just want to play the f'in game and using vpn is what is letting me do it - iN tHe rEaL wOrLd...

You can't switch back to normal server in "Trial of Ascendancy". You are forced to complete it with lags and stutters.
I haven't run into this in PoE2 yet but I have encountered the symptoms in some other games in the past. Here are some things you can try to troubleshoot stuttering in game:

1. Check Device Manager and see if any devices are continually connecting / disconnecting. There could be a USB device on the fritz for example. If you see device manager list flickering periodically, try to figure out which device and unplug it from computer. You could also try removing all unnecessary devices from computer anyways. I've had this issue once and it didn't affect every game I was playing so it's worth checking even if PoE2 is the only game having the stutters.
If on laptop:
2a. Make sure your laptop is plugged into power -- many times laptops switch to a different power plan in Windows when on battery power.
2b. Make sure laptop is in proper performance mode if it has such a feature
If CPU frametime is high:
3. Use a new Power Plan in Windows to prefer High Performance (you can google this to see official instructions for Microsoft and even find some PoE specific posts on reddit).
If GPU frametime is high:
4. Check GPU drivers to see if it has a high performance plan mode also.

r.e 3/4 - It does matter, for some reason the client will still accept messages from whichever global chat you are automatically assigned to. This can be observed if you type /global 1 and disable the chat you can see the message counter increasing.

r.e 6 - You don't know that, the log file could be read by the client and if true parsing thousands of lines could be expensive.
Nvm issue went away till I closed game but came back the next time I logged in.

I'm on PlayStation 5 and I have big fps drops during boss fights when I do my skills or when there is a lot of crowd which makes the game not fluid at all it's really disastrous
any amount of processing on the client's side would cause an FPS issue and stutter. This is a network issue, so nothing on the local computer will cause this other then a bad network card, bad rougher, internet connection issue, or something on GGG's end.

Sadly this topic is filled with issues that are CPU/gfx related instead of the original topic... stuttering/lag with NO fps drop.

The primary reason is a connection issue with the server as the client keeps on rendering/processing. It manifests in your character freezing in place while other things animate, followed by the client/server catching up with a massive elastic band effect as the missing time is filled in.

reducing bandwidth MIGHT help mitigate the issue a bit, but this will still spike. gateway changes/ ip address changes(VPN)/ or a refresh to cause an instance change (still updating the internal path on GGG's side) are the only workaround till a patch comes out.

In PoE 1, there was a setting to patch this issue if it showed up that is not in PoE 2. I would hope that GGG will fix this, but I will settle with a predictive settings change to fill in the holes in the connection
