Why POE2’s Direction Is Worrying for Veterans and Newcomers Alike
" This entire thread has become sixty-seven pages of you putting people on blast for not being 20k-hour PoE1 Ultravets while demanding Path 2 be burned down and replaced with faster horses for PoE1. I legitimately hope you never get what you want and demand, because if you do it will mean there was never any reason whatsoever for Grinding Gear to spend all those years developing Path of Exile 2. |

Reading through everything OP made the effort to write, only for people with 0 reading comprehension to just throw up lazy strawmen like "Ok you just hate PoE 2" validates me in hating to interact with people.

Well at least POE 1 will be around for veterans and new players.
It doesn't make sense for GGG to make poe 2 like poe 1. that would be silly and backward. For me, I like the direction of poe 2 |

" Thing is OP made some points, but people are actually correct he wants PoE 2 to just be PoE 1, everything he mentioned are the exact things PoE 2 was not meant to have. A great example of this: OP Mentions combat style not being "Difficult" this is a relative term. Their idea of difficult is having to overcome challenges through numeric strategy like buffing resistance, having specific defenses, items keystone passives ect for an encounter. This is exactly how PoE 1 plays. PoE 2 difficulty was meant to be designed more around twitch style gameplay, avoiding the big hits and taking your opportunity to damage the boss when they are vulnerable. PoE 1 has some of this but they did not occur until late in the game. |

" PoE2 doesn't need to be exactly like PoE1. But they do every mistake they did with PoE1 and put it into PoE2. It's like a lesson never learnt. I think it makes perfectly sense to make PoE2 more PoE1-like. The tremendous success proves the formula works. But, the PoE1 gfx suck, the engine is bad and outdated, the campaign is old and tedious, the endgame bloated. It's time to make PoE2 the PoE1 successor it should have been in the first place. Put PoE1 to rest or at least in maintenance mode :) The veteran player base supporting PoE1 loyally for 12 years deserve a true successor :). |

" I disagree. That would be a disaster. Just keep poe 1 for all the zoomers Make poe 2 for the people that like it and the ideal. Win win |

" Problem is most of the people who really like the direction aren't going to be the type to stick around and play seasons. We will see in a few weeks at first reset. There are going to be a LOT of people who aren't finished with the campaign or who just reached endgame who are furious. Many of them aren't even going to realize their character resets. People like that seem to be who PoE 2 is made for, but none of those types are going to be here in 10 years playing seasonal content. That's the problem with the game. | |
" This is the stupidest argument I've heard. You can't know who will and/or won't stay for a league. There is no metric for it, in fact all signs point to yes they would stay if you used D4 as a reference for these "lesser" players that keep getting dunked on for not having 50k hours. |

The problem is that most of the people who really like the direction aren't going to be the type to stick around and play seasons.
That's the problem with the game. we and GGG won't know this until the game goes live. |
|
" But the direction of Poe2 is Poe1 it's basically inevitable now, There's no foresight in it's design. The one portal limit will get dropped, because they simply won't do the job of removing or visually cleaning up hazards and death effects. Melee (maces) will be abandoned, along with many underperforming skills and builds, because they'll keep adding content that benefits high clear speed and forcing a narrow meta. Eventhough Poe2 was supposed to fix these problems they're going to do them again. |
