ES is broken
" yeah its not though. Let me explain: 10k ES can be 20k ES 5k life can not be 20k or even 10k ES has easy scaling and lots of it, life doesn't its not very simple. Okay next: 10k ES is 10k eHP against any size of a hit that doesn't instantly kill you. 5k Life and 50% PDR from amour might be a lot of eHP against small hits reducing in amount until its nearing just 5k eHP because the damage is so large that your armour barely reduced it. Look into how armour scales in POE, its not very simple: 10k ES is 10k eHP against elemental dmg 5k Life and 50% PDR from armour is 5k eHP against elemental That one was kinda simple; half the eHP of the ES build 10k ES is immune to bleeds until 10k hit dmg removes all your ES 5k life takes bleed damage immediately Pretty simple definitely not the same value here okay moving on: 10k ES can be infinite eHP against chaos damage with a keystone 5k Life is 5k eHP against chaos damage Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4. Ok, alot of people here are having some serious problem with physical damage reduction from armour and how it functions.
https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Armour#Rule_of_thumb There is the armour formula from poe 1, it functions the same in poe 2 but instead of armour/armour + 5 x damage it is armour/armour + 12 x damage. So the rule "To prevent half of damage (50%), you need armour 5 times the damage (e.g. 500 armour for 100 damage)" is in poe 2 "To prevent half of damage (50%), you need armour 12 times the damage (e.g. 1200 armour for 100 damage)" So to get 50% PDR on a 5k hit(turn 5k physical damage taken into 2500 physical damage taken) you need 60.000 armour. And the effect goes down very quickly, becomes less efficient, against larger hits. As a example, to have 90% damage reduction against a 1.000 damage hit you need 100.000 armour. Or against 500 damage you need 50.000 armour for 90% pdr. So for a 4k life build to have a higher survivability then a 8k energy shield build against 4 hits of 2000 physical damage you need atleast 24.000+ armour(50% pdr), or else the energy shield build survives when the 4k life armour builds dies. But if you want 75% pdr instead of 50% you need would need 36 times the armour instead of 12, turning the 24.000 armour into 72.000 armour requirement for 2k physical damage. And when it comes to elemental damage, chaos damage and bleed, energy shield is far superior for defence. Also life recovery from flask can apply to energy shield, so can life regeneration and so on. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. |

Amrour and evasion receiving buffs will do nothing. And we shouldnt be increasing or buffing anything to something that is currently not intended.
Armour is just pdr, and evasion is just RNG. Buffing these values does nothing. Energy shield and its quantity, regen, and scaling; are currently not appropriate for POE2. We will hopefully see the devs dial this mechanic way down and more in line with what we are seeing achieved in health categories. Maybe even less, as the OP said it well. Everyone is struggling at the same ammount of health pluss or minus 500ish, but then just because someone is on the top/top right of the tree they get an extra 10k health as ES to scale and add mechanics too. Watching videos of gameplay like spark snoozefest is definetely going to, not only see hopefully an outright gut to its distance and AI around corners. But also its defense. Mash the clean
