rate the endgame from 1 to 10
" For new players it kinda is, waystone sustain isn't even really from atlas tree, its from running rare/corrupted maps which like triples waystone drops. People complaining about sustain probably just running them blue. My boss nodes give me 5-7 waystones a pop, but im running double corrupt etc. Problem is rare maps with bad gear/build is going to result in a lot of deaths. |

" yup, can't afford to run them anything other than blue tbh. This post was sponsored by me.

I think it would be super interesting if everyone giving a rating also provided the game they've played in the last 5 years that had the BEST endgame (doesn't have to be an ARPG, but should be from a genre similar enough that endgame is relevant, i.e. RPG, MMO, etc.), and what rating they would give that endgame.
I'm of the opinion that there's no "perfect" way to do an endgame. People seem to expect a game they can literally play forever and never get bored, and they're hunting for a unicorn that doesn't exist. The best games are the ones you enjoy the most while there is fresh content, but eventually every game should come to an end and you should move on to something else. Right now its a 3/10
I'm sure it will get to 10 eventually. No map boss is super lame. As of right now id rather just wait until the game is better. Its amazing but the entire game is early access for sure. Dont want to burn myself out when i know it will be so much better in 6 months - 1 year. That said, great job GGG this has the potential to be one of the greatest games ever. |

4, even when I'm pumping increased waystones in the area I get one map, atlas tree has increased quantity and qualities chance to be higher tier blah blah blah. I really enjoy getting the t9 and below waystones running t14s...
Salty as well since minions can only work in big open maps. |

Personally, I don't like what I see. Same trappings every other Diablo 2 clone suffers with, being an AoE + Stack Resist Fiesta, and part of the reason I never sunk my teeth too deep in any of them. The campaign is great, and was hoping endgame was going to be meaningful fights with massive enemies, or smaller squads of rare monsters with mechanics to play around. Instead it's the same ol'"nuke the screen until everything is dead." Boring and derivative, imo. Just not my cup of tea.

I go with a 3/10 as well.
It's all somewhat a nice idea - but absolutely not intuitive. In between "suddenly the game is over and HERE, TAKE THIS MAP!" and hidden changed attributes like the -10% resistance modifiers it was a mess for me and after a couple of maps I decided to quit, take a deep breath and watch a few videos about whats going on. Shouldn't be like this. Tried maps again today and can't say it is fun to me in any way. Still don't know what exactly to do. All these weird mixes of the endgame with old POE1 leagues (which I partly just didn't play and therefore don't know) still feels unintuitive. The POE1 map system was kinda OK-ish for its time. I would have expected something more refined as in Last Epoch and beyond. Last edited by DanielH#5404 on Dec 18, 2024, 6:31:48 PM

" Can we please merge our brains ? How many posts do you have to read before you get fed up and try and hit people with your logic and well thought out macro level truths ? |

Not at red maps yet, so it's subject to change. Playing T10 waystones atm. (well actually bruising through since the last patch, thanks to a massive dps buff lol)
So far I'd give it a 5/10. I really enjoy the mapping right now, but it's not what I expected from PoE2 especially after all the interviews and how the campaign felt. I don't like that it's getting pretty bursty again with the damage ur character deals, but also the damage from monsters. It starts to feel like PoE1 endgame again, just with slower movement speed. The slow and methodical gameplay goes out the window when 10 mobs jump at you and u have to manually dodge every single one of them for example. (Hi Quadrillas) That's not my biggest gripe tho. Right now Atlas progression feels kind of boring. The Atlas points u can put into the Atlas skill tree seem very generic for the most part. Apart from a few nodes and the Essence stuff there's nothing interesting or special. On top of that, u don't get to spend any points into either of the league mechanics until u reach the highest map tiers I assume?! I want to specialize into Expedition to help craft gear, but there's no way to do so. I don't know when Olroth actually has a chance to spawn in logbooks, but I assume it's at a rather high level. Well I keep grinding until I reach a point where I'm not having fun anymore, but I want to at least try some bosses. Either the Atlas guy or Breach ect. For comparisons sake, I'd give PoE1s endgame a 9/10 right now in Settlers. |

Endgame - 3.5/10 (Currently) I'm sure they'll make many changes in time.
I found the endgame which I was excited to get to severely lacking in it's current state. - A delve-like map without the ability to zoom feels awful to navigate. - The towers feel like a 100% complete waste of time but you have to do them simply because of precursor. - Not having a boss at the end of every dungeon just feels... Awkward. - Some maps I find myself fighting to see what's going on more than fighting the mobs. - I'm not sure why they butchered the atlas but it feels awful and lacks any creativity. Basically it's boring. - A large majority of maps hates melee minions so I can't even actually see if my build works on another character I leveled. 90% of the time (no joke) they're stuck on doors, tree's, etc. Or because of being stuck together 1/10 minions will attack and the others just stand there. - I want Golems. QQ I do believe it'll change quite a bit over the course of early access but as of right now it has more going against it than for it in my eyes. I love the combat, pacing, loot drop rate, etc of the game (Trials not included in "fun") but I'm finding myself bored when I hit the end game. |
