Yeah I 100% agree. Trialmaster and Sanctum are so niche in poe1, the fact they pushed it as core ascendancy is mind boggling to fans. I know like one dude who does sanctum, no one who does Trialmaster lol

Its mid week. The player base is always going to drop with time, even PoE doesn't maintain 500k concurrent. Its normal and natural.
I'm not comparing weekend to midweek.
I'm comparing midweek to midweek, same exact time of day, same peak, and same overall player count during the full day.
It's 100k players.

100k people have been filtered. That's a good thing. The game shouldn't be for everyone.
Celebrating potential players and costumers being "filtered" is not a sustainable business model. I would agree that the current trend isn't going to tell us if the game will succeed of fail since it is EA and only a week out. You cheering on and commenting on every post that has some who is having trouble with the game or is finding hard to continue is not helpful for the community of the growth of POE 2. If you really like POE 2 as much as it seems maybe you should be offering to other players better understand the game, instead of mocking them or celebrating them leaving.
I would help them understand the game better. But they are not asking for help. They are demanding changes. Better loot, give me ascendancy points immediately without a challenge, nerf bosses.
Im angry because no one is accepting responsibility for being bad at the game. They are just blaming the devs and asking the game to be made easier

I've seen you engage in dozens of posts.
You've never tried helping anyone understand anything better.
All you do is prattle about how bad everyone else is, rather than engaging with the actual arguments.
You know, like you did just now. Again.

Yes its 100k players. What you dont understand is thats suprisingly low drop off. Thats actually a testament to GGG's success if anything.

And I wonder how many due to ascendancies.
You picked two of the most hated, and definitively most random mechanics from leagues in POE1 as your trials. Who in your studio thought this was a good idea?
I'm genuinely curious.
It's the worst decision made in POE2 by some margin. And spending some time in the forum confirms this is true for 99% of players. I haven't seen a single person endorsing it, nor defending any criticism it gets.
Not ONE.
The statement "Ascendancies are trash" is the least contended criticism on this forum.
- They are hugely unfair
- They are massively random
- They take a lot of time
- They don't have infinite tries
- They cater to specialized builds, while punishing others
- They are not fun
And you made it part of the mandatory part of the game, where each build gets their biggest and most important power spike.
I LONG for Izaro uber labs with a no regen glass cannon build, compared to these trials.
Do I want the lab back? No. But I would do ten of them over another ultimatum or sanctum run.
This is a no brainer, GGG:
Release ascendancy points for all classes at the end of acts in the campaign.
At least until you have a fair, working, and level trial that is accessible for all build archetypes at the same reference point.
At this point I don't even beg for the trials to be fun, -they SHOULD, I just want them to be fair and doable, not random and gated behind drops.
By your logic, people love poe2 ascendancies so much, to the tune of 400k more than poe1, which has lab instead.
Maybe obviously wrong interpretation of data to support your pet peeves doesn't actually work that well?

What would be interesting to see is the number of veteran or core player base from POE 1 have stopped playing or are continuing to play. I have a feel the large influx of new players is going to fade with time, most of these players are playing the game as a one time campaign playthrough most of them will not stick around for seasons. Since GGG wants POE 2 to not be like POE 1 IDK where they are expecting to find a player base that will be sticking around for seasons. Seems like a poor business model to reject your core audience in the hope of magically finding a new audience, either that audience will have to appear and have a good retention rate or they might need to shift gameplay design closer to what POE 1 was.

+1 to orig poster, both these events as trials are bad. But of the 2 Sanctum is the worst by far. It was a horrible mechanic in poe1 and to use it as a gatekeeper in POE2 is even worse.

I'm sure all 500k that signed up for POE2 did so to do sanctum runs.
Not sure you should try to tell me how logic works by your own metric of said narrative.
How about contending with the arguments instead of the person giving them, you know, like intelligent people tend to do.
Even if I granted you your insane statement, and that 400k more than POE1 played POE2 because of ascendancies, GGG STILL should ask themselves why 100k left.
And that tells you just how little sense you made.

Elden Ring or New World lost 50% in that time. 100k is nothing. Dont throw around terms like inteligence or logic because you dont use any.
