SF (no solo) > SSF
" lol finally i see it and i see the previous ones too! thanks for the effort i really do hope that at base level drops are more generous so i can become an "effectively SSF"er. [Removed by Support]

" just try it man, its not that scary. just roll a first char that is not gear dependant (spell caster/necro) then if you want a weapon based char get some progression gear that will take you to maps. i find this crucial in poe2 as the campaign is pretty rough even with decent gear, but if you are skilled on bosses you can actually slug them out with very low dps (i absolutely love this about poe2- you can spend 20min slugging act bosses). there is only the 3rd act foundry boss that is a dps check but he is optional |

" one of my many issues with poe1 is that those skills are currently overperforming. it may sound very ironic but despite melee being the WORST (monk melee is like saying lightning strike is melee) in the game right now that even the devs acknowledge it, its the most enjoyable melee i've had in diablolikes in a very long time. in fact my first entire campaign playthru in poe2 was using a melee ranger which was effectively SSF. so yeah i do see how fun SSF can be. i was slamming exalts on random gear that i wouldnt have in poe1. the foundry boss was very interesting. one other forummer was watching me struggle against him. i kept failing over and over again. tweaked my gear, changed my passives abit. repeat and failed. but eventually i managed it. and i really like what you said about 20 min slugging an act boss. melee with bad gear makes bosses take an absolute long time BUT IT IS DOABLE! if i m being honest its exhilarating. like the executioner boss. he has a quick jab which you could technically roll away from, and he has a "2swing combo" which you can roll out of BOTH! ZERO DAMAGE! the issue i have with SSF that way only becomes prevalent once i hit maps. during campaign it was fine because you could keep retrying with no recourse. my gear was shit but like you said. if you have the skill you COULD overcome it. once i started mapping gearing became a harsh requirement. i played quite a lot until i decided i wasnt having fun and im not even getting gear to fix my resists. if we're being completely honest, i really love playing the campaign more than mapping. i rerolled several times but with gear that i saved up as well as by honing my understanding of boss fights, i've made several other off meta melee builds such as melee witch, melee sorc. but for maps i need way better gear, and the best way to do so in a reasonable amount of time still is via trading. " yeh mapping progress can be slow, but with caster or necro is still a lot of fun. can be slow too but its not frustrating. maybe give it another go after next patch? they giving som elove to maps now, and i think more bosses will help since low tier map bosses are way way easier than campaign bosses from a mechanic standpoint (slower/lower dmg) |

And I'm still here waiting for customer service to migrate my characters from SSF to Standard zzzzz

" I also would like better drop rates at SSF so we can more easily set up our builds (since we cant trade). But I still play SSF and I really think it is just better than having to stop playing to see if whatever I dropped is worth anything in the market, and "playing the market" to see if anyone has posted anything I need for a price I can afford. SSF just neutralize the whole ordeal I still wish I could play as a group though. Last edited by Balagann#7553 on Jan 15, 2025, 7:30:49 PM

" I follow the "multiple character" approach. I chose one character and I play with it until I hit a wall. By then, I prob drop some unique or some really good gear for another character I can try a build around it. So I try that... and I keep playing around with different characters, chilling, and enjoying different gameplays. But then again, I wish I could do this while party playing too... " I, for one, gave up on melee characters for now. I'll wait until they make them viable. I must add I very much prefer ranged gameplay in pretty much all games anyways, so it's less of an issue for me. But bringing back the subject of the discussion, I believe I'd be much more inclined to try meelee if I could do it in a party. |

" If youre talking trumelee, single player is more engaging. The more players you add it might actually detract from your experience. Examples that i experienced. -moving towards an enemy, attacking and whiffing because some party member already killed it at range. This happens a lot -dying to some telegrapged attack because theres so much going on on the screen that i cant tell whats going on -"attacking" allied minions thinking they were enemies. I feel that for partying, melee serves no purpose as theres no aggro pulling mechanics nor are they any real healers for tanks. Its all dps. Melee in party only shines during drawn out boss fights but even then its hard to play due to the various effects as mentioned [Removed by Support]
