i'm giving up - DEVELOPERS PLEASE READ!

I agree. A game like this shouldn't be designed around trading. 99% of the playerbase play their characters solo, so why force me to engage with other players to get some decent equipment? I agree, that I haven't found anything meaningful myself. Yes, here and there a blue magic item with decent mods that carried me through campaign, but I'm also missing the dopamine kicks here and there. The only way to get something good is stacking rarity, but then you have the same problem as with PoE1: Tons of drops that you have to browse through. I want less, but more meaningful loot. Like bosses, when dropping rares, having a higher chance for more mods and better tiers. This way, boss loot would be meaningful. But right now? Rare trash mobs often drop more and better stuff then the bosses themselves. :( Honestly: I like PoE2, but the whole craft-mechanic and loot tables need alot of rework. Trading should be optional and not the optimal way to play this game. But as it is now, trading seems mandatory, unless you want to grind yourself to death. |

Kinda surprised OP is complaining about drops in PoE2 yet liked PoE1. Huge reason I gave up on PoE1 permanently is because it has atrocious loot, too. PoE2 actually has dropped me some decent gear on a more or less consistent (if slow) basis and bit by bit I get a little stronger, unlike when I finally gave up on Poe1 I had just burned 800 equivalent chaos orbs (so this included things like Delve fossils(?) and Essences to guide the craft) and couldn't even get a modest upgrade on one single piece of already barely top 20% of loot chest piece. The only advantage PoE2 has right now is the combat is significantly more entertaining for me, but god damn the grind is still so obnoxious, especially given the current state of Armor/Life as a slam warrior and mob damage scaling being insane where I can get hit for over 2,500 from a single normal attack from one rare and another rare SAME mob type SAME map then hits me for less than 200.
GGG seriously needs to stop catering so hard to trade league and the masochists who like grinding mindlessly for 12 hours a day, drastically overhaul Magic Find, create a dedicated SSF league or system (Last Epoch has a good system to allow self find with live party-only trade by the way), and let people reach pinnacle bosses without needing 300 hours on a single character. |

" Certain ilvls should just straight cut off lower mod tiers. I should flat out not be getting +12 life on an ilvl 81 piece of gear. There are far too many things that need to align to make this shit work. Even their (Tier X) loot drops don't make sense, I was under the impression they are supposed to do exactly that and I had a decent find once that dropped Tier 4 or 5 that I ex'd only for it to give me like 17 accuracy as its 5th mod. So fucking annoying. Shoulda been like 300+ accuracy, even if I didn't want the acc at least that would have made sense as a mod tier for such a drop. " lol what are you talking about... I blow up the entire screen using one ability in T18's... There's less thought involved here than there was in PoE1 unfortunately. The campaign is great, and all the dodging, blocking, etc. works there, but all of that goes out the window once you reach the endgame. |

" You're arguing about the "right way" to play a game. If an arbitrary majority of players play one way, and you show up and say "you're playing it wrong", then the problem isn't with how they play. It's with how the game is designed. If someone thinks a game is bad, which will always be a subjective thing, you can't come in and just say "you're wrong". That makes zero sense. It's ok to be a fanboy. But at least be honest about it. |

" If enjoying something is a subjective thing, and 80% of the population enjoy it but you don't, it's maybe not the way the product is designed that's the problem. |

" idk man....we've been on the same page a lot before in other threads. But the loot and crafting issues in PoE 2 is an ACTUAL majority agreed upon problem. Every single streamer has mentioned at least one or both as being an issue, including the most diehard unapologetic PoE 2 lovers. It's actually your posts in this particular thread that appear quite out of touch with the reality of the game. I like nearly everything about the game. The loot and crafting (or damn near total lack thereof)....needs work. Most agree to that, although the degree that it needs to change shifts from person to person. PoE 1 had eternal/exalt crafting...this is even LESS than that utter tedium travesty of a system. It's actually quite impressive that even PoE 1 in the dark ages had MORE crafting than current PoE 2. Personally, I don't want nearly as much (deterministic) crafting as PoE 1 has now, but at the very least I can see a crafting bench being added in the very near future. Having one flexible mod on all pieces of gear can't possibly be a game breaker... I also disagree that its a "how you interact with the game" problem. You can't really interact...any different way. The other points the OP makes I disagree with, but he isn't "wrong" in his opinions and descriptions of them (unlike many other threads). " I understand the feeling; but there is few things to consider ; First, we have to remember the crafting on PoE1 was also mainly about gems slots and colors, which was more a RNG currency spam than anything. As the skill gem system is not relative to the gear anymore, gear crafting is only about affixes upon the right base in PoE2 ; which does change a lot of the value of orbs invested in. Secondly, while the alteration orb is missing, the reforging 3to1 makes up a good way to rerolls bases and have a endless stream of free blue items to augment as long as you pick up the bases for your character. It doesn't take more than a single stash tab to have a constant rolling on gear (1-2 pieces, as 3 makes it go back to 1). Then, the currency rarity switch of exalted orbs and the easily obtainable regal shard through shards allows transforming up the blue bases into some potentially better items. When you consider those rarity and orb usage, and with a currency market of 1 divine for 300 exalted (not there yet), drop 1 single divine in your playthrough and you can make good blue bases with two augmented good/perfect affixes into a 100x 6 affixes rares item for your character (because you can only use up to 3 exalted orbs per regaled item) You have at least two rolls of your choice, then regal + 1x exalt can give you a hint about how worth it it is to continue slamming, and if it's two bad rolls from it and you are rich enough, you can chaos upon for 50/50 chance of removing one of the bad mods. Slamming further exalted orbs into a good base with 2-4 good mods isn't that much of an investment in PoE2, and can lead to some nice surprise, or else, it can be marketed away or reforged into a endless pile of rares. As a baseline for crafting, without considering the rarer determinitic options and while also knowing more tools are going to be implemented into the future, I honesty can say the crafting so far has been fun for me ; yes, heavily random, but much more accessible due to both the reforging process and the more lootable and therefor usable exalted orbs. The problem with people hating the crafting on PoE2 is that they don't pick up white and blue bases to augment/regal/exalt, because, as a Softcore crowd, they'd rather use those precious exalted orbs as a money to trade instead of trying themselves to use it ; which isn't a problem SSF players encounter. Also, RNG is sure random, but the negative cognitive bias of only ending up having bad items is not an objective reality. You just gotta do it, it sure takes some time and currency, but it's not out of reach when you swim in it. |
