Jonathan, you cannot make the campaign fun to run over and over for many players

TLDR,
Anything you earn in campaign won't help you make money to buy end game gear. It will only help you get through the campaign. With an end goal in mind of making an end game character, the campaign is just an obstacle we have to get past before we start making the end game build. It's about options. "Other games" have given the option of skipping the campaign and leveling a character by doing low level versions of the end game rifts that end up stream lining XP and making carries easier. PoE has even gone so far as to nerf XP gain if you try to carry a friend or sell Campaign carries. It's not only, we won't give you a skip option. It's we're going to stop anything we see you do to try getting through our content faster. |

" The leveling process is an iportant part of the game GGG don't want you to start in the endgame day 1. The methods of leveling don't even matter, if you could do a lvl 1 Breach it wouldn't drop anything for you just waste your time think of campaign as mapping, except the set of maps is hand crafted and doesn't have temporal chains on it. |
|
" Please actually read the OP. This is not about day 1. This is about after you have already completed the campaign in a new league. |

The low level mechanics simply cannot be allowed to be rewarding. If low level content like the Act1 legion or Act2 Breach in POE1 had any real rewards then the high level players would be abusing it and ruin the markets. And without the league mechanics the mapping is going to be awful and incredibly boring. That's why low level maps or endless ledge is a really bad idea, it's just going to be enormously boring without the atlas and league mechanics.[/quote] This is a problem with the loot system and over reliance on the economy. it is a fixable problem and I've posted a solution that solves it among other problems like making ground items matter while keeping the RNG nature of crafting and rarity of mirror tier gear in the game. The TLDR version is essentially moving rarity away from currency/crafting mat drops and into the crafting bases and the crafting system itself. If you're curious for more details, read about it in the link below. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3687315/page/1#p25825554 I've fine tuned the idea a bit since writing that up, so it should work even better now. |

" It woudl still have a detrimental effect on the economy, some people don't start day 1, somebody might join a week later or even try the game for the first time mid-league. GGG don't want them to play in a dead economy without trading their low level gear for 1ex and so on. I think running a twink with a +3 lifespring, wanderlust, corrupted 4-link skills and lvl3 support gems right from the start is already a decent experience, it's much faster than than starting from scratch. |
|
" Again please read the OP. None of what you said even makes sense. Why would this cause a dead economy? People still have to go through the campaign, and with the suggestions I gave #1 and #2 people would still need to level every character up from level 1 to maps and need the same gear even after the first campaign clear. Am i the only one who thinks that the campaign is simply not enjoyable?
Having to find the exit and slog through mindlessly complicated, convoluted or seemingly endless zones is just simply not fun. I fail to see how you can make a campaign this long and tiresome fun for multiple playthroughs/seasonal resets, when the only objectives are "go to point a to point b and sometimes get quest item at point c, d and e". Either the content shifts to a balanced early to endgame fun and very important, reward loop. Or the campaign needs to be much shorter, because ultimately the only content outside of a first playthrough is in maps. This ain't a single-player story-driven game. I'm not saying we should rush to endgame either, but, goddamn do i not want to make any more characters anymore. Act 3 is so disgusting to go through, even after the changes. I don't want to know how long it's gonna end up being with all the other acts coming. I would love this game to be a more slower paced, more combat decision making supportive game, but idk, this aint it chief. Last edited by APwny#3824 on Apr 14, 2025, 5:12:30 PM

+1 I am in cruel act one..... I really don't want to play through the campaign again and am probably going to quit cuz standard league is dead. It's too hard/time consuming and not rewarding enough to actually want to put the time in to play through.

GUYS!!! GUYS!!!!!
LEAVE THE FREAKING CAMPAING ALONE OMG!!! I'm so gigatiered of all this and seeing how GGG directs so much time and effort on this "passed and forget till the end of the league" mechanic is just the most frustrating thing ever. Especially with a pile of steaming problems that just keep on growing. Camping works?! Yes! NEXT ISSUE! Or just nerf it to the ground WHO CARES >_< Real PoE is the endgame. We want more endgame, more content there, more fights, more bosses. The noobs stuck in campaign don't know what PoE is if the campaign is all they'll ever do. DEVS PLEASE let them into the actual game. I can't imagine a single person enjoying replaying ANY campaign in ANY ARPG. Did you guys not play Diablo? Like all of them? What do you remember? Cain is cool, Andariel has nice assets, that girl didn't have to die, Mephisto is an ass but drops good loot so we farm him like there's no tomorrow. That is what a "campaign" is. I'm not talking about D4 btw, that one is an abomination. For some reason the VISON™ right now is that PoE2 has to compete on the campaign front while it's not what kept it afloat for so many years. This is just stupid. Killing your own business devs, that is what you're doing. Better rework and add us Delve. That would be awesome. |
