PoE 2, and how fear made GGG waste too much time on things that made them loose the Vision.
"what makes you think the extra hundreds of thousands aren't the players from China that have so far been counted in the steam #'s but may not be with .3? That would be an ahah moment wouldn't it. Nobody wants to take your cheese ok? EA launch .1 and .2 are not it though. Crap was and is still broken and poorly designed. Sprint is certainly not what I wanted and I'm no zoomer. Gems rework is a step in the right direction. Still having them piecemealed out to us in campaign if we are good children and do certain tricks is stupid and insulting. |

Well, in a game uber focused on currency acquisition efficiency. What do you expect. They would have to make every class slower and clunky like warrior. They tried this with amazon trying to force you to parry but it felt terrible and people complained.
They wont reign in deadeye/tailwind and monks ability to just fly across the screen and hit monsters. So were just going to be stuck with people flocking to that play style because if you don't you're going to be farming "pennies on the dollar" compared to the fast builds. |

" What do you mean by piecemealed? |

" In PoE one if I have gotten to a level and point in the campaign I can get certain gems or even have them drop as loot and then level them. Not in PoE2 I have to be up to the level and have you ever had your first level 4 uncut skill gem just be a random drop from a chest or low level mob? No it is usually handed to you for something specific like killing a rare in a certain area. Same thing happens throughout campaign. |

" Why would I want to have an alt if getting the 1st one to endgame is such crap? |

I've been saying this all along. It makes zero sense to obsessively "balance" an EA product that is missing half the skills/classes/item types. They should have focused on making the core of the game finished (campaign acts, classes) and nothing else. Hell, the game probably shouldn't have even been released publically until they nail down the acts and classes. End game was a mistake--they specifically said they stopped focusing on development of the core game to work on it, and have admitted themselves it is a stopgap measure. Worse versions of PoE 1 mechanics they wasted 6 months developing, that will (or should) be entirely removed from the game at some point.
I think this all stems back to the original sin of unnecessarily releasing an unfinished product when they were still making plenty of money off of PoE 1. Now they are stuck in "live release" mode for 2 games, one of which is unfinished and badly needs to be in private development mode. They're gonna be stuck churning a treadmill, desperately making 10% of progress on the actual game and 90% on maintaining things for "retention" of a playerbase that doesn't need to even be playing it yet. |

" Yes balance and the economy needs to be an after thought to actually completing all classes and the campaign. Stick the game in SSF mode during early access and you can actually spend time working on the game instead of balance/economy. |

" I don't understand your position as i play hc and I've probably ripped and started over 10x so far. I actually find the campaign fun. Its when the campaign is over i lose interest. There is not much on the horizon as far as checking off boxes. Last edited by Lonnie455Rich#2087 on Aug 24, 2025, 11:49:43 PM
