Liquidating is pretty different from spending a full day in your hideout buying bases and crafting mats. I too run into gold issues constantly playing the way I prefer if I don't go do castaway runs off TFT.
You don't even need to spend a full day. It's easy to go through a million gold in like 30-45 minutes when doing heavy trading and crafting.

its supposed to fight currency flipping botting, sadly its an necessary evil imo

I don't sit in the hideout all the time, I don't craft too much, and I have an excess of money. So I think this is good motivation for completing maps. I think the purchase tax may not even be high enough. I believe that it would be more honest to earn money and obtain items independently, with the market being only a tool in extreme cases, rather than the basis of the game.
Crafting and trading are part of the game and always have been. In fact, most of the richest players are either players who abuse group play mechanics with rarity bots or players who get good at crafting and understanding the market. I dislike the group play crap. So, I choose to craft. There's nothing illegitimate about it. It's built into the game and heavily incentivized as it's literally one of the best ways to earn currency to buy the gear you want so that you can play the build(s) you want.
I have nothing against crafting and trading. But I believe that these are only auxiliary mechanics that should provide a little help. The foundation should be built around completing maps. Crafting in this league killed all desire to play and allowed the game to be “completed” in two weeks, so it needs to be nerfed rather than buffed to get players interested in the main gameplay.

Crafting will be nerfed/tweaked for sure since abyss will be brought in line. I hope it wont be as bad as rog...
But there is still trading without instant buyout. Or you gotta do some maps. I believe it was always their vision to make crafting viable, but you shouldnt sit in hideouts and ceaft all day.
I find the gold costs quite moderate, sitting at 7 mio gold atm.

I guess I don't get how this is possible really. I have like 4M gold. I've never found that gamble box, but how much trading are you doing? Do you run like 1 map and then craft/trade for hours?
Think about it a different way. Gold costs prevent hideout campers from wrecking the economy too quickly.
Get out and touch some maps...

Why do so many of you dislike crafters so much? They are literally the people making the items you all want. Without them, the quality of the Rare items for sale on the market would be way lower as they simply do not drop like that in the game. There is nothing wrong with sitting in your hideout. People did it in 0.1, people did it in 0.2, people do it now, people do it in POE 1. People will always do it, because it's efficient and less RNG vs running maps.

It's not about hate or dislike to crafters.
I see it that way:
One smith, can produce enough swords and armors for large numbers of warriors. In real life you can't cheat so it's not a problem, but warriors are the mojority of players, so as someone mentioned earlier, it's a lesser evil.
Honestly if you want to play a game as a crafter, a hack and slash might not be the best place unless you go to maps and farm your gold :D

I'd say the gold cost are so trivial - the real cost should be in exalts and divines, with a proper high tax too - 25%+.
Alternatively it'd should be possible to list trades in gold as well, and still pay 30% tax.
As a smith analogy you still have to pay tax to the state.

TRUUUE
As someone who doesn't craft often, I love our hideout warriors in both games and our card gambling degenerates in PoE1 who make me rich off of yellow juice
Strangely enough though, your running out of gold from doing heavy trade for a day is likely a good thing as it means it DOES work in preventing people and bots from exclusively spending time in the hideout playing the market
I'll tell you what, though, if I ever catch you asking around for it, I'll take you through any of my Castaway maps, my friend

No offense, but I really don't think you have any clue what you are talking about. Running maps isn't even the best way to farm gold. Hopping on the TFT discord and paying someone a div to run their Castaway map to get 1 or 2 million gold is the fastest and easiest way. But it's stupid that it has to be like that, IMO.
