Gold costs for using the market are extremely annoying

It's not about hate or dislike to crafters.

I see it that way:

One smith, can produce enough swords and armors for large numbers of warriors. In real life you can't cheat so it's not a problem, but warriors are the mojority of players, so as someone mentioned earlier, it's a lesser evil.

Honestly if you want to play a game as a crafter, a hack and slash might not be the best place unless you go to maps and farm your gold :D

No offense, but I really don't think you have any clue what you are talking about. Running maps isn't even the best way to farm gold. Hopping on the TFT discord and paying someone a div to run their Castaway map to get 1 or 2 million gold is the fastest and easiest way. But it's stupid that it has to be like that, IMO.

We should turn the chessboard around. Maybe map rewards and other game systems should be improved so crafters don't feel the need to keep going from hideout to hideout buying bases for their crafts, this would lower the value of bases and make them something you sell in bulk save some notable exceptions such as magic bases with two specific t1 rolls. Recombinators and Expedition should get buffed for the purpose of getting good bases.
I hate that recombinators turns 1 suffix 1 prefix items into rares - it's okay for POE1, but many crafting systems in POE2 require the item to be magic and recombs aren't even that good.
I would love a way to spend more resources on gwennen/rog/tujen to get higher ilvl and higher tier averages - expedition works when getting into maps, but it becomes a chore when going for stronger crafts.
I love scouring but I am pretty sure GGG won't introduce it to the game as it would trivialize the problem of equipment drops being uninteresting by turning all of them into scour fodder.
Being able to identify items on the ground by right clicking would also make everyone happier. Basically, gold taxes do not need to be lowered if GGG solves other underlying problems that get you to have to do so many trades in the first place.

I 100% would be mapping more if mapping could compete with the amount of currency generation that crafting can produce, because I do enjoy killing monsters as much as the next guy. But, right now, it simply doesn't. You can sometimes get nothing valuable even when heavily juicing maps, which makes it feel like a waste of time. Of course, there are RNG elements to crafting too, and you can sometimes be unlucky, but it still feels like you have more control when you have a lot of knowledge about the systems.

If I could get as much currency through mapping, I would do that and then only craft items for myself that I personally want to use as upgrades. And I've tried with essence farming and ritual farming for omens, but it just doesn't feel very consistent or reliable. You can go on long streaks of not getting much at all.

About the recombinator, it has its ups and downs. It's kind of useless for getting an item with 2 good T1 mods on it already, unless you happen to start with a good fracture. But it's very useful for creating bases to work with for crafting by combining 1 T1 mod with one really crappy low tier mod. This often lets you get a base to start from for much cheaper than just buying it directly from the market due to not as many people knowing the recombinator mechanics very well. I use it mostly for that. Still, that sort of makes it feel like a one trick pony. I wouldn't mind there being other reliable ways to use it to produce useful items.

Unfortunately, I think the bot runners have already figured out ways to combat the gold costs in an automatic way. Either that or they are just doing what regular players do and paying people to run Castaway maps as needed. I'd bet though that they have figured out some automated process. Like slamming white items with alchemy orbs and selling them for gold in mass or using Rog to buy rares and sell them back to him at a high rate for long periods of time. Stuff like that.

i guess they will just have to lower item sale gold costs by 95% or smth =/ at least crafted gear/npc gear, only natural drops can keep their price, that way even botters will become highly inneficient
