How does GGG plan to make money?

They have to have some income or they would be losing money from this game.

From what i understand its all coming from cosmetic micro transactions.
There are other ways for them to make money, like my modding license idea, but i doubt they will let those happen.

Besides, i bet they get a ton of "donations", like minecraft and Dorf Fortress.

probably make a lot of money selling stuff to players, but hopefully they won't give other players advantages.

from the looks of things perhaps PoE is GGG's gateway game. since its free and amazing it should become very popular so that their next title has alot of credibility and should fly off the shelves. and it looks like Chris funded majority of this project perhaps along with Erik's royalties from his book.
then again, maybe im way off and they just are doing it to be nice :P

I think it'll be mainly payed through mirco-transitions.

But maybe they could sell a Box in stores for 5~10$/€ and there is a CD + Some special items like Exp-Potions and/or exclusive Costume-things.

Micro-transactions are the way of the future for now. I don't mind it as long as you can't buy anything that will affect gameplay and make your toon stronger than anybody else. I have played games that do this, like Fiesta. It ruins the game IMO.

I hope we are able to support GGG so they can continue to work and improve their games and service. . .

Say I want my own leauge and just my good friends to play, and I want to increase exp and drops...etc..

they'll make plenty of money if the ss looks as good as the game might be
