Personally I am little worried about them giving away too much for free right now. 20 character slots is more then I will ever need so there is no point to me buying more. The 4 stash tabs are huge and again I cant seeing myself needing more then that. Other games they start you off with basically the single stash tab. That makes sense to me, that way people will probably spend at least $10 buying 3 more stash tabs.

I want this game to do well and I really think they are being too generous and it could cost them and us as players down the road, when they dont make enough money to keep the game running.
I personally like the idea of GGG wanting to make money by not selling power directly to players. The cosmetic things are the best way to make money.
Unlike diablo 3, where you can buy the best gear, and then finish the game easy. And this is only one of many reasons why PoE is way better than Diablo 3.
One does not simply get into PoE Closed Beta.
It is all about their expectations and life goals as human beings and professionals.

For some people it may be perfectly acceptable to make $100k USD-equvalent a year and just feel good about being a creator of a kick-ass game.

Computitional power is dirt-cheap these days - to the tune of $100 per 4GHz processign core, so is Internet connection - in Poland where I hail from one can get 150MBit/sec down (yes that is one hundred and fifty megabit per second) 10MBit/sec up as a regular cable customer for $50 a month.

And let's face it: if they hook up 100 thousand people on this (very modest number considering number of PC gamers planet-wise) and will get everybody to just contribute $15 a year - they will be more than fine to keep a team of 15 people very well fed for a very long time...

You can achieve incredible things if you don't trow away the money on some greedy CEO azz-wipe and his fleet of privte jets... :-)

And advertising? I found out about this game today by reading Diablo 3 reviews on Amazon and Metacritic (Diablo 3 sucks, check out Path of Exile).

I would pay them for some pant for my Templar, so no more diapers, or bicycler shorts style armor :) My current Templar seriously looks like a bicycle deliver guy.
My suggestions for cash shop

-bigger inventory.
-Separate inventory for orbs
-separate inventory for gems, like a gem bag or something.

Only been playing a few days, but the tiny character inventory space has been getting on my nerves. Especially the clutter of currency items and gems.

-Cash shop only characters

-Instanced player housing, used for displaying trophy gear and grandfathered characters. Could even sell various monster spawns to populate the outside of the housing, making custom instanced zones.

-Pets, I don't like useless cosmetic pets. I'd rather see combat pets that you can level and equip with skill gems. Sure, it's a bit of an advantage, but they would still be available in game through trade.

-Purchase the unlocking of all the waypoints in your current act. Bit of an advantage, yes, but could be disabled for competitive leagues.

Pretty obvious that it will be the cash shop making them money. I mean what else could it be? aside from the early access/support stuff.
