How does GGG plan to make money?

Given the trade on beta keys that I've seen (They seem to go for up to $50), it's quite impressive that the devs had held back and avoided having a daily/weekly key auction.

Or possibly I've just given them a terrible idea now.

You need to save your money to have the shift key on your keyboard fixed by the sounds of it.

Seriously though, what are you paying one time for? There's no mandatory fees involved here.

Agreed. There's no need to complain about not wanting to pay for fee's when the developers have stated many times the game will be free to play and there will be no obligation to purchase anything for the game. Some of us will pay whatever they charge for our own league and cosmetic upgrades, but it's always a choice.

The approach I have seen from these developers is amazing me every step of the way and it makes me sad when I see these posts from WoW trolls that have found a new forum.

I agree with many of the positive comments on this. I just recently found out about this game. Have clued a few of my friends to it as well. None of us are on the beta yet but hope at least one of us can get in to get a feel for it.

The first impressions of seeing some videos and reading on site though are very positive.

I generally am asking myself how they were able to fund such a big project for the last four years. Is someone of them rich or do they have BIG sponsors behind the curtain?

I suppose there will be a lot of possible micro-transactions in-game. I just hope these transaction won't significantly influence the game, such that players spending money on the game will not have a big advantage over those who do not.

i think they are going to give option to get back to hardcore league for real money

They've said many times they really don't like the idea of players being able to purchase power and will keep it to cosmetic upgrades. Dyes, skin's, maybe larger stash, etc. We all hope it stays that way (and as long as no big company like EA takes over, I feel this idea will prevail)
