Maven memory game feels stupid
I can do uber elder, uber atziri and sirus A8 deathless, but cannot kill Maven with 6 portals due to this stupid memory game and the floor covered with degen faeces stains...
"How come only evil forces were released?" - "Because there are no good forces."
"So, then. You don't believe that there is a God." - "There was a god." "Well, then. Where is he now?" - "I killed him," said Kane. | |
just came here to say +1 to post. maybe ggg will pull their heads out of whoever's brown star it got stuck up.

" Correct answer! The whole fight feels entirely different once u use a few portals to skip this garbage phase. |

WOW! Very damning thread here, GGG. Are you reading this? I sure hope so.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

there are a few mechanics in this game that REALLY need to be looked at a little closer. One being the memory game inside The Maven's writ. I have had 3 fights where it alternated between only 2 segments. I was standing in the correct starting section and it instantly blew up, then it ailed to actually SHOW the locations of the correct sections to go to on the next game.
The second being. "hey I see you made it out of the meteor maze, NAH fam just auto target yourself back into the last ring while clicking far away and in the opposite direction" Sirus maze. I have died to this countless times since the introduction of conquerors and it is not okay. both fights have AMAZING potential as end game bosses. but the wrong mechanics are getting way over tuned. Do I really only have0.15 seconds to trigger the memory game segments while dodging lasers that really should just be a thing on their own? yes? cool. Ill gladly get a carry to avoid a 50/50 mechanic that either works, or just bricks your portals to get it out of the way And not ever touch the fight again. Same with sirus. what even is the point in running that now outside of farming awakened gems in ssf for the one your build "needs"? Ill do it once for the challenge and never touch it again. there is no incentive to replay them when the fights themselves are over tuned in the worst possible way with LONG invincibility phases, Unavoidable dmg/death or in my last instance with sirus, he went to the hallway phase instantly after landing and put me inside a storm that was still moving out of the fight radius. |

I managed to make it deathless (so all minigame phases) like 5 times on a total of ~45 maven runs. With a necro.
There's a visibility problem. It's much, much, easier with a fast character like a bow ranger. It's wrong mostly because the output is really random: can't take the risk to die, it's the same than Sirus... But there's a difference: It's possible to delay this fight (so waiting a level up) because it's opened with a fragment. |

It's impossible to see anything in the last phase of the memory game, on top of the ground effects that stay for the whole fight. And if you dont kill her in time she repeats this mess...
Sirus is fine, because you can actually see/hear what he does and evade the attacks perfectly fine. But the maven fight is just pure trash as a whole, things like this should never be in a Hack'n'slay/ARPG. No joke, they really need to get rid of the guy who designed this fight. |

Just did my first Maven fight. Never fighting her again. I thought Sirus was bad, but holy shit. The clusterfuck, the small arena size, the ability spam on top of the memory game shows that GGG lost their touch and have no idea what proper boss design is.
I am extremely disappointed. Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris. Last edited by Ydoum#5726 on Feb 23, 2021, 10:39:52 AM

i´m in theory not against such a boss phase (i.e. the Sirus
labyrinth phase is totaly fine, good visibility and enough time to react) the memory phase in the maven fights is a disaster though. its rather poorly visibile and heavily encourages to abuse one of the biggets design flaws of poe which is the instant logout. since i play softcore i never avoid death with logout using something like logout would kill the game for me i still hate dieing, but i want to get punished for making a often dumb mistake the mavenfight however crosses a line where it would be dumb to not logout the "difficulty" drastically changes with logout btw for all the "hardcore" players, its not hardcore if you chicken out with a logout as soon as things go slightly wrong a "true" hardcore player takes the death, but ofc thats only my opinion |
