Game Mechanics Q&A

Could you explain how leech works?

Community-created guides that I find are often outdated and I don't know what to think...

Had a Chaos-DoT-Caster-guide for any class, then 2021 patches happened^^ https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2485596

Hi ggg, my main question is how is possible to have a good amount of armour, life above 5k, all capped resistance to 75%, chaos res to 20% and still get one shot from a random mob? I really dont get it actually! and i dont understand how can i possible increase more damage mitigation when i have all capped! this just give me a stratospheric amount of anxiety playing the game and i actually dont understand the mechanics!

Thank you if u have time to answer my question

Sadly you're not supposed to reach a point where you are invulnerable and a god. The game is designed to kill you, not to have fun. It shows by the defences you need to survive 90% of the encounters. The rest (10%) is random and is a means to give players the feeling to strive better defenses/gear or to raise their own skill ceiling by playing more.

If you could just run straight in a line, it would get boring fast.

What are the calculations for brittle, sap, and scorch? There are multiple items that use these ailments and they are almost unusable because nobody wants to try them due to their ambiguity.
I start to play traps again after some time, but I could not find answares about how skitterbots trigering of traps actualy works, I read that it works only if there are enemy around? What is the radius? Enemy must be nears skitter bot or player? Would be nice to have devs to confirm it.

Also there is some confusion about Perfect Crime rearming of traps, again it suposedy works only if the enemy triggers it and not if they triger by end of their duration, is that intentional behavior? How the rearming actualy works? Is there some CD before the trap can trigger again?

Is the master of trials likely to appear more easily if we have many constant victories in the Ultimatum?

Why does damage over time DPS have a cap at 35M and when will this be fixed?

Oh, I actually know part of this one.

Internally, DoTs and regeneration effects are stored as damage per minute so that you can have fractional values of damage/healing per second. When you hit 35M, that's ~2100M damage per minute - which is, iirc, the most you can store in a signed integer, so it breaks the program.

As for when they'll fix it, lol idk.

And for my question: What, exactly, is A9 Sirus's ailment threshold, and what are the equations for working out alternate ailment effects (Sap, Scorch, and Brittle)?

I know the reason, but I want to know why they designed like this to cap the damage at a mediocre value, making all dot builds hard to optimize. So I phrased like that and hope for an official response.
Right, just fire.
What about increase trial master spawn rate?

Question about Delirium:

If you put some delirium orbs on a map; then one of the descriptions reads ; "players are x% delirious".

I'm still lost on that; what does it mean? Is it a debuff, just an indication how many orbs have been put on the map or something else entirely?

Would love some clarification; thanks in advance.

Just an indication of how many orbs have been put on the map.

20% delirious = 1 orb.
40% delirious = 2 orbs.

And it goes up to 100% delirious = 5 orbs.

Thank you for clearing "the fog" on that one :)
Why I cannot /hideout in the mine encampment ? I can do it in the bestiary but not in mine encampment.

Why the rarity of an item is not related to the number of mod it has ? For exemple, a rare item can have 0 mod by using annulment orbs. Why the rarity does not decrease ?
Gladiator's "Blood in the eyes": attacks maim on hit against bleeding enemies, enemies maimed by you take 10% increased physical damage.

Flesh and stone: nearby enemies are maimed while in blood stance, enemies maimed by this skill take 16% increased physical damage.

Maim support supporting flesh and stone: Enemies Maimed by Supported Skills take 14% increased Physical Damage.

do all those 3 increased damage taken effects stack? if i stand near an enemy does it take 40% increased physical damage?
