POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
I really like the game. I do. Tried a bunch of different classes, specs, you name it.
I'm more of a forum reader, but this time is different. I feel deceived. When everyone was in the "hype" of the launch was amazing. I was playing at start on my notebook, and the hard crashes started. "Ok." said to myself, "I'll see if there is a workaround, because this is an old notebook." There was, the "BES" processor limit thing. Was able to play. Then i got myself a Christmas expensive gift. A brand new PC. Good parts, all AAA games like Cyberpunk and others running at maximum settings 200 plus FPS. Felt goooooooddd. Except for POE2 still hard crashing after an hour of playing. Ok, the game got me hooked, so tried the workaround again with POEuncrasher. Worked really good, no more hard boots, an ocasion crash here and there. After the recent update, i'm done. Can't login, FPS drops and so on. The hype is gone. To do this much "workaround" to play a single game? Get out of here. Understand the concept of Early Access, but not this broken shit. And the worse is the lack of communication. Zip, zero, none. And all the streamers sucking the balls saying GGG is amazing in everything. Yeah, they are talented, but we all know the money on those streamers involved. Sorry for the wall of txt. Just needed to get it out. |

day 40.....
still locking up..... still no word from GGG.... gues they really don't care about us..... sigh... Bump.. |

" just fyi it DOES happen even with Engine Multithread disabled. I had many freezes myself on load screens playing with it completely off all time, also you can find plenty of other users experiencing the same in this thread.. Turning it off can surely mitigate and help avoid, maybe even fixing 100% in some systems, but not on all cases... it is def not a def fix since many still have the very same crash with this setting turn off. Whatever is happening, is being escalated by using multithread, not caused by it totally i believe (since it still can happen even without having this setting enabled) Last edited by drx#8804 on Jan 20, 2025, 8:24:02 AM

I just joined this club also, game freezing whole computer in loading screen.
This issue can be worthy of refund, no matter how many hours you have spent in the game, since the game is unplayable right now. Steam will definitely side with you on this matter. |

" except they don't... 11 hours played 3 refund requsts all denied, citing time played. even though the issue didn't start happening to me til my second time playing which was after an update and like a week after launch, ever since, nada and steam refuse to refund it or even acknowledge the issue. Much like GGG atm. |

" shroud's the only one ive seen mention it at all |
|
" They said they are still very aware of this issue and thanked us for our patience a few days ago. LOL |

I dont know why people refuse to use PoE uncrasher, its been weeks without a crash and I had same issues like all of you, I know it's now the answer, but until GGG fixes it it's the only way to play instead of just not play and cry here about it endlessly.
If even with PoE Uncrasher you crash, then I'm sorry. |

Had PoE uncrasher installed and still getting crashes randomly... its so frustrating when u get them while doing trails...

" That line is where I think a lot of people are getting mixed up. This thread seems to originally be about PC Freeze (as in the title) but after reading through dozens of pages since I have started having more issues, this thread has morphed into multiple things. 1) People freeze (Windows or CPU) and forcing hard resets 2) Game freezes only, mouse still works, have to CTRL ALT DEL to force close POE 3) Load Screen freeze, game crashes to desk top (This is my issue) for #3, I don't lose anything computer wise. the mouse works, internet works, streams on a side screen work. Everything works. I just load into a map, cog wheels on the bottom turn, then stop turning, and then I'm looking at my desktop screen. It isn't even that POE turns grey or anything indicating unresponsiveness. It just straight closes itself. If you read the github for your suggestion is clearly says "If your issue is not Windows freezing on a loading screen, this tool will do nothing for you." So just all be aware downloading and running this program isn't the fix for all the problems arising in this thread. As a previous poster said (sorry i don't feel like going to find it to quote it), POE is a great game and this early access Beta. Sure, most of us paid to play it, and as such we are displeased with the inability to utilize the product we paid for, but its Beta and you have to anticipate issues and bugs. 430 ish pages of a forum post, over almost 2 months now, discussing similar issues and it seems each release/patch/update only makes these problems worse with limited to no info from the designer, is really not a good look. Each player has their own priority issues. Some like microtransactions and cool swords and cloaks and portals in their game. But I would venture to guess that more of the player base would prefer to have a working stable game, without the fear that playing the game may be causing damage to our computers with constant resetting, over the MTX from POE 1 in season 5 working with POE2. Perhaps they are working on it, but its a more delicate and time consuming issue that us non gaming programmer peon's don't fully grasp the magnitude of the issue. But at least something acknowledging the fact that there are multiple crashing issues at hand here, affecting what is obviously a LARGE portion of the community, would go a long way here GGG. Lastly, in every patch notes it says "fixed client crash". Could we maybe elaborate on what that crash was? Fixed Client Crash - fixed the crash that happened when x did y and caused Z, ultimately crashing the client. That way we can see if the issue affecting us has been addressed. |
