POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
" They said they are still very aware of this issue and thanked us for our patience a few days ago. LOL |

I dont know why people refuse to use PoE uncrasher, its been weeks without a crash and I had same issues like all of you, I know it's now the answer, but until GGG fixes it it's the only way to play instead of just not play and cry here about it endlessly.
If even with PoE Uncrasher you crash, then I'm sorry. |

" That line is where I think a lot of people are getting mixed up. This thread seems to originally be about PC Freeze (as in the title) but after reading through dozens of pages since I have started having more issues, this thread has morphed into multiple things. 1) People freeze (Windows or CPU) and forcing hard resets 2) Game freezes only, mouse still works, have to CTRL ALT DEL to force close POE 3) Load Screen freeze, game crashes to desk top (This is my issue) for #3, I don't lose anything computer wise. the mouse works, internet works, streams on a side screen work. Everything works. I just load into a map, cog wheels on the bottom turn, then stop turning, and then I'm looking at my desktop screen. It isn't even that POE turns grey or anything indicating unresponsiveness. It just straight closes itself. If you read the github for your suggestion is clearly says "If your issue is not Windows freezing on a loading screen, this tool will do nothing for you." So just all be aware downloading and running this program isn't the fix for all the problems arising in this thread. As a previous poster said (sorry i don't feel like going to find it to quote it), POE is a great game and this early access Beta. Sure, most of us paid to play it, and as such we are displeased with the inability to utilize the product we paid for, but its Beta and you have to anticipate issues and bugs. 430 ish pages of a forum post, over almost 2 months now, discussing similar issues and it seems each release/patch/update only makes these problems worse with limited to no info from the designer, is really not a good look. Each player has their own priority issues. Some like microtransactions and cool swords and cloaks and portals in their game. But I would venture to guess that more of the player base would prefer to have a working stable game, without the fear that playing the game may be causing damage to our computers with constant resetting, over the MTX from POE 1 in season 5 working with POE2. Perhaps they are working on it, but its a more delicate and time consuming issue that us non gaming programmer peon's don't fully grasp the magnitude of the issue. But at least something acknowledging the fact that there are multiple crashing issues at hand here, affecting what is obviously a LARGE portion of the community, would go a long way here GGG. Lastly, in every patch notes it says "fixed client crash". Could we maybe elaborate on what that crash was? Fixed Client Crash - fixed the crash that happened when x did y and caused Z, ultimately crashing the client. That way we can see if the issue affecting us has been addressed. |

" Even if that is true, that some systems still crash when disabling MT. Implementing the suggested fix is something they can do while working on a permanent solution. I never said that this fix would be the end of the story. With that said. I think this fix would make the majority of people able to play the game without risking permanent hardware damage or do anything else to their systems. Even for those that still experience crashed I will most likely reduce them to very few, or at least less than without it. They cannot revert ppls windows versions, so their options for a band-aid fix is limited. Doing this would show that they care about the playerbase and shows that they are taking this issue seriously, something they are clearly not doing right now. Agreed, changing the code in this Early Access release to temporarly disable "Engine Multithreading" on loading screens seems the most sound work-around possibility whilst waiting for a full resolution.

Update from my side, after reading through the posts here and digging deeper into what PoEUncrasher does I was able to at least get the game to run again.
What would happen on my end is that during the initial load, before the log-in screen my computer would simply turn off. Only after disabling and enabling my power supply on the PC the thing would start back up. Steps I took to prevent the crash are as follows; 1. Install and start Process Lasso (if you have it autostart with Windows you will only have to do all of this once). (https://bitsum.com/) 2. Edit the config file to disable the multithreading, the location of the file is "C:\Users\<your_name>\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini" " 3. Start the game and ALT+TAB into Process Lasso. 4. Find PathOfExileSteam.exe and right click it. Open up "CPU Affinity" > "Always" > "Select CPU Affinity". Enable all of your cores except for CPU 0 and CPU 1. Click OK. 5. Now ALT+TAB back into PoE2 and go into settings and enable the engine multithreading again. 6. Restart the game. All should be good going forward. I have not tested this for an excessive amount of time but the game has been running for an hour now without any problem. Before; it wouldn't even get me into the login screen. How is this different from PoEUncrasher? Well functionally it's not, it does the same thing. But since I had Process Lasso running anyway I felt like giving this a shot too, plus I don't have to think about opening up another application before starting PoE, I can just start it now since Process Lasso remembered my settings because I chose "Always" in the menu instead of the "Current" option. I have had about 10 computer freezes today while loading screen. Nothing responds and have to hard reset my computer. Have lost many maps today because of these crashes.

just the same as everyone else despite the 0.1.1 and later hotfixes game still crashing unless hyperthreading is off and if that's off performance is terrible.
are there any official updates from GGG if so, I can't seem to find them. At this time I have moved onto other games because the frustration from crashes is not worth it. |

" Feel free to QQ. Tears > diagnostic information. " I'm glad that you found working solution. But why Ubuntu? :) It's older bloatware... anyway at least it is working for you. " It reads Client.txt entries, there is no magic. If there is no entry (the string matches regex pattern), it won't do anything but at this moment the game may freeze. RPM()'ing poe may lead to termination of service and account ban because of breaking the ToS. Having the checkbox for load screens (or shader processing times) in the settings is just another unreliable bandaid. The problem should be fixed, not workarounded. This is exactly what they are working on right now. " Yep. It's just contributing factor. |
