POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
|
Hi everyone, I had the same problem days ago, even on day one I had a similar problem, then I don't remember who, recommended changing from dx12 to vulkan, the problem was solved for me.
A few days ago, I switched back to dx12, freezes started, I put vulkan back in and it's been 2 days since it freezes. I understand that the problem might solve for some and others not, but I'm reporting it, it might help someone. |

Last update did not fix it. Was able to run 2 maps without crashes, but the third one again did. I also installed the latest Windows Update preview, 24H2 26100.3037.
Ain't gonna be playing until this is addressed. Having the client crash is something I could live with, but needing to restart the whole computer, nah dawg. Last edited by spedeedeps#4421 on Feb 3, 2025, 5:51:01 AM

" Nearly 2 months and this was your issue LMAO, the pain. " Mentioned about 100 times in this thread alone along with setting affinity, using poe2uncrasher as well as multithreading, aswell as changing the file paths and deleting the shader caches the list goes on and on and on and honestly is not something this amount of players should be messing about with to get a game running functionally, they've already dropped down from 500k players daily to 150k lets hope that number keeps falling as quickly so GGG decide to focus on this issue Last edited by Nyek#6508 on Feb 3, 2025, 9:59:08 AM

I also have this issue.
On loading screens (starting POE, click to play, getting from character to hideout, going in maps or back to hideouts) the game freezes and crashes. It does happen a lot less going back to hideouts! like 1% of the time. However I do have a working workaround. First of all on each start up I change the affinity using the task manager and disable cpu 0 and 1. The only reason for doing this is being able to end task POE2.exe instead of a complete lockup of the whole computer. The workaround is simple. Before I portal to anywhere I disable Engine Multithreading. And I only turn it back on when I'm in a map. In this case its always disabled when restarting the game but you have to be cautious because when you die, you get teleported to your hideout with Engine Multithreading turned on. Be sure to always check it when going back into a new map. Constantly playing with engine multithreading disabled is no option. By far not enough FPS. This is extremely annoying as I like to trade a lot, but it is a working workaround. I do hope GGG will fix this issue ASAP. |

The issue has been ongoing since POE 2 EA launch. Some people are even saying that this problem has existed since POE1. If that is true it would mean that GGG brought it into POE2, since it seems like it's using the same engine. If that's true, honestly, I'm starting to loose hope. I was doing the affinity, and switching on and off multithreading, but it's starting to kill my enjoyment of the game at this point.

" Again nearly faced computer freeze on loading screen and had ~40 fps, closed game, cleared Shaders, without PC reboot, etc. Instant 80fps+ and no stutters same map portal. |

I've been following and posting in this thread since it was single digits. The people coming in at page 500 thinking they have some new solution. Please stop - you don't, all these fixes are temporary and break at will. The only SOLUTION is for the devs to fix it and at the BARE MINIMUM communicate on their progress in this thread on a daily basis, but they refuse to even do that.
This is not your run of the mill 'bug', it has bricked many peoples PC's in this thread now and cost players thousands. The developers are responsible. Last edited by Naaberz#0898 on Feb 3, 2025, 11:31:04 AM

" Yes I have this problem in POE1 |

Has anyone on an amd gpu actually experienced the crash? i read thru the first 30 or so pages, and nobody on amd gpu reported specs, all nvidia. And i have 4 friends who are on 24h2, 2 of us experience the crash, 2 don't, and the 2 that don't are both amd.

" Just search for Radeon on the thread and you will see that it's not a nvidia exclusive issue. Some people also thought that it only happened on AMD cpus, but it seems like it happens on intel too. |
