POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

I also have this issue.
On loading screens (starting POE, click to play, getting from character to hideout, going in maps or back to hideouts) the game freezes and crashes.
It does happen a lot less going back to hideouts! like 1% of the time.

However I do have a working workaround.
First of all on each start up I change the affinity using the task manager and disable cpu 0 and 1. The only reason for doing this is being able to end task POE2.exe instead of a complete lockup of the whole computer.

The workaround is simple. Before I portal to anywhere I disable Engine Multithreading.
And I only turn it back on when I'm in a map. In this case its always disabled when restarting the game but you have to be cautious because when you die, you get teleported to your hideout with Engine Multithreading turned on. Be sure to always check it when going back into a new map.

Constantly playing with engine multithreading disabled is no option. By far not enough FPS.

This is extremely annoying as I like to trade a lot, but it is a working workaround.

I do hope GGG will fix this issue ASAP.
The issue has been ongoing since POE 2 EA launch. Some people are even saying that this problem has existed since POE1. If that is true it would mean that GGG brought it into POE2, since it seems like it's using the same engine. If that's true, honestly, I'm starting to loose hope. I was doing the affinity, and switching on and off multithreading, but it's starting to kill my enjoyment of the game at this point.

It's always Shaders.

Had couple crashes and some performance issues (Shaders) during 0.1.0f, but nothing constant and 0 freezes.
Since 0.1.1 everything was super smooth in all aspects. However, I started new char and cleared shaders again. Acts 1-3 had been smooth until I started Act 1 Cruel and faced totally unresponsive PC until cleared Shaders again.

Again nearly faced computer freeze on loading screen and had ~40 fps, closed game, cleared Shaders, without PC reboot, etc. Instant 80fps+ and no stutters same map portal.
I've been following and posting in this thread since it was single digits. The people coming in at page 500 thinking they have some new solution. Please stop - you don't, all these fixes are temporary and break at will. The only SOLUTION is for the devs to fix it and at the BARE MINIMUM communicate on their progress in this thread on a daily basis, but they refuse to even do that.

This is not your run of the mill 'bug', it has bricked many peoples PC's in this thread now and cost players thousands. The developers are responsible.

Yes I have this problem in POE1
Has anyone on an amd gpu actually experienced the crash? i read thru the first 30 or so pages, and nobody on amd gpu reported specs, all nvidia. And i have 4 friends who are on 24h2, 2 of us experience the crash, 2 don't, and the 2 that don't are both amd.

Just search for Radeon on the thread and you will see that it's not a nvidia exclusive issue. Some people also thought that it only happened on AMD cpus, but it seems like it happens on intel too.

searching radeon brings up 2 pages, with only a single report being someone on an amd gpu. and there's a chance he's bottlenecked, with a 3600 and a 7800xt.

idk. just seems like a shockingly low number of amd cards are affected here.

Edit: the other thread has more radeon user's, but they are all experiencing extremely different symptoms, where it's in game, not load screen, and the screen goes black, and then has to be reboot. Which is an issue amd has had for years, which was specifically related to MPO. in 3 threads, i've found a single user that's experiencing this specific issue, with an amd gpu.

Yes, i think also its related mostly to Ryzen CPU + Nvidia GPU. Other issues my be similar but not the og issue...

Also dunno about ppl having issues on 23H2, no issues here on latest W10 and W11 23H2, i had issues only with 24H2 in both games (PoE1 and PoE2)

This is happening now EVEN WITH Process Lasso limiting CPU usage. Completely unacceptable. This should be GGG's #1 priority so people can actually play their game without having it potentially damaging your PC.
