POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

Also getting something similar on Xbox. When traveling to waypoints, using portals, or respawning after boss fights, the game enters an unrecoverable "Paused" state. The game eventually crashes and returns to the login screen.
uninstall the new Windows 11 24H2 update (KB5048667) to stop the game from freezing
Sorry but we are playing other games too and the update indeed has positive impact on the new x3d ryzen processors. Unacceptable to downgrade an upgrade - sorry.

I am having alot more luck after rolling back my bios on the Taichi X870E to 3.10. I have a 9800X3D and was having lockups at load making the game unplayable. Now I only randomly get D3D12 CreatePlacedResourceX Failed errors, but they are far better than lockups.
What the bios doesn't have is Game mode for the X3D, I didn't have this enabled but did test it with it being enabled and still had the lockups.
It is clearly something with the X3D chip and the X870E.

Looks like we have the same mobo and cpu. I am using 3.10 still crashing. Didn’t update to newer bios because its beta.

I have this from time to time. Fix is to disable multithreading.

GGG hasn't acknowledged this bug yet, but happens with PoE1 and PoE2.

they know ,read official statements

Day 1 smooth until today 12/11/2024.

Massive frame drops and there was a couple box crash pop up notification that fully closed the game.
Audio of the game is going in and out every 3 or so seconds for a fraction of a second.

Having the same issue, I went into process lasso (program I use quite a lot because my pc is cpu bottlenecked atm until I take the time to swap to the 7800x3D from an i7-8700k @ 5.1ghz) going to leave multithreading on and inside process lasso select poe2 and set the cpu affinity to use all except cpu 0. Hopefully this prevents the hard freezes while still being able to use multithreading.

Edit. Definitely seems to have helped, and even increased fps by 15-20 for me. Was at 125-130 and not I’m at 155 on average

First 2 freezes yesterday. Nothing changed on my setup except first POE2 patch.

Looking at DxInfo output this seems to be memory related:

The memory address may be invalid because of one of these common scenarios:

- NULL Pointer - addresses between 0x0 and 0x10000 (64K) - e.g. a function that usually returns a pointer returned NULL (0x0), and the pointer was accessed without verification
- Memory Corruption - the address was mistakenly or maliciously overwritten - commonly via a buffer overrun (or underrun)
- Use-After-Free - the address was valid, but is now being accessed after it is freed (data) or unloaded (code)
- Bit-Flip - RAM (hardware) issue where one or more bits have flipped (rare)

+1 I'm also getting full PC lock ups on occasional loading screens.

PC Specs:
Win 11 24H2
AMD 7800X3D
Nvidia 4090

Fix attempts:
Switching from Directx12 to Vulkan
Improved time between crashes but still crashed every few hours (since new patch today, crashes within minutes)

Setting CPU limit in power options to 95% (with Directx12)
crashes on first loading screen

Setting CPU limit in power options to 90% (with Directx12)
crashes on first loading screen

Setting CPU limit in power options to 90% (with Vulkan)
crashes within 20mins

Things I'll be trying going forwards:

Disabling multithreading

I'll edit this post as I explore more options.

Note: Definitely crashing a lot more today after the new patch, can barely make 20mins gameplay compared to two hours yesterday

I have had complete success by changing my renderer to Vulkan and setting FPS limit to 100.

Since doing this I haven't had a single loading screen crash for perhaps 7 or 8 hours.

Hope this can help some others.
