Warrior is just bad

Maces are sluggish but you can buff attack speed to ~3 hits p/s pretty easily for much improvement in terms of sluggishness. It works well with splash damage too.

But then you discover Heralds and it doesn't really matter any more if you can kill everything on the screen in one hit.

At the end of the day people are always going to pick splash / AOE over single target damage for everything except bosses.
