Viper Napuatzi
Viper is pretty easy if you're used to MMO raids. But I don't think a random campaign miniboss should have mechanics similar to MMO raids.

" The fight is bugged to hell and back so let's fix that first and foremost. I happen to think it's problematic for reasons that are unrelated to the bugs but that's a separate issue. |

" I have done her only once each on Normal and Cruel and beat her on the second try both times. She is annoying. Both times I was tense as hell when I finally won. That is not inherently a problem. That being said, there are absolutely still problems with the fight. I agree that the random poison spear mechanic needs to be at least a bit slower. Once the soldiers move in and you HAVE to dodge spears from both sides, it becomes actively frustrating. A bit slower, and I would have time to properly register which soldiers are about to attack and at least try to position myself accordingly. As it stands, I can only register one side, and then once I get hit I'm splitting my attention to my Life as well which makes it compound. I also agree that her spending so much of the fight undamageable is miserable, just leave her on the ground in some kind of slightly-more-defensive state. And make the Purple circles actually have some safe spots for crying out loud. I can't go a single time without getting trapped and *having* to be hit by at least one. |

Like every other difficult encounter, you can bypass or reduce the frequency of boss mechanics simply by having higher damage and a build that has damage amplification synergy.
This is the problem with the vision bullshit - there are artificial barriers that create the illusion of difficulty, but that all comes crashing down with gearing. And GGG does a fantastic job starving players of resources to gear up at the moment. I think it took me about 5 tries with a little over leveling in between and a bit of teeth clenching and rage to beat her on normal act 3 as a lightning ranger, in act 6 I don't die at all now and she goes down pretty fast. Offensive gear is the biggest contributor, my resists are still poor and I still dance around like a monkey around regular mobs, but boss fights in this game is more about offense than defense. Every boss in this game that I've encountered so far is just a DPS check. | |
I feel the periodic spears from the ad barricade is fair, its the final area sweeping attack from both sides that is A) nigh impossible to react to and b) the damage is wayovertuned on it. They need to slow the projectiles on that final attack down and bring down it's chaos/poison damage.
I have like 25 chaos res and over 1k life and my health globe is absolutely shooting down to almost near dead because again impossible to react to and the shit feels like it's guaranteed to roll catch (this is after correctly dodging everything prior btw.) Feels horrible. https://www.twitch.tv/satsuinotanden for streams. Last edited by DreadlordMephisto#4974 on Dec 19, 2024, 5:16:46 PM

Also, put a damn well in the city when its 400 bc. Guarantee you even back then people were not above constructing such things if we wanna be historically accurate to what was possible around that time period even though its fantasy i digress.
Like why am i having to summon a tp, go to town, go through another gateway. Then stop drop and roll just to refill my flasks? Lmao. https://www.twitch.tv/satsuinotanden for streams. Last edited by DreadlordMephisto#4974 on Dec 19, 2024, 5:06:18 PM

I think it's a great boss fight. I died a few times when I first encountered her. But once I learned her moves haven't died since. You might need more DPS if you're dying to her a lot.

I'll +1 30 second long dance phases where the boss has i frames are kinda bs. I have a crossbow that acts like a shot gun. put me in that exact situation and viper napuatzi wouldn't do much better than a clay disc does. Gamey.
in general this is not my final form let me just fill my health bar and long damage phases where boss is invulnerable are gamey nonsense. There will always be a gradient of gamey nonsense being as it's a game. Forgemaster fight I felt bad for melee because he runs off to the lava all the time but i was still able to damage him. Poor warriors can't do anything but tell jokes. I just think those two forms are egregiously bad. |

" Ain't dying a lot. Just saying the area sweeping poison spears felt overtuned. I got lucky and found a couple amethyst rings. Not everybody is going to have that same luxury (im ssf) and just think she needs tweaking. I don't think every aspect of the boss fight is bad, the AOE flame blast stuff it gives you enough time to react and you can literally just walk around and occasionally roll most of it and theres a safe zone near the end. That poison arena sweeping final attack is mad cheap though and needs tweaking. https://www.twitch.tv/satsuinotanden for streams. Last edited by DreadlordMephisto#4974 on Dec 19, 2024, 5:31:40 PM
