Nobody is asking for free ascendancy points, they are asking to not be railroaded into a horrible game mode that is not fit for this genre. This is a huge blunder on GGG's part. How did this make it through QC? It's mind boggling.
Maybe the people in QC are actually decent at the game and didn't find a problem with it
Nice baseless ad hominem. I didn't find a problem with it either. The point is it isn't fun and it's not the game play 95% of people that play POE want. Seems you can't do much besides glaze poor game design. Nobody is asking for it to be removed, you would still have your precious trials, but they need to rework the ascendancy system.

Choking a your trophy to death is not 'love'. You don't love this game, it's a badge, an identity, a thing you can pull out of your pants whenever you want to feel better about yourself. It is not, and never will be, your game. Or mine.
Let's use some numbers as an example. Let's assume that the 100k gone were going to, on average, spend 10USD on Cosmetics a years (Some would buy, others won't, it averages out to 10bucks), losing that many means they could have lost on ONE MILLION dollars in revenue.
And you're HAPPY about that. You are not a 'fan'. You are a parasite, a locust and one that I hope GGG chases away.

GGG does not want you if you're going to tank their business. They WANT to make the game good, but here you are, trying to kill their game.
You are not helping them, you're just another PoE1 Elitist NPC, who doesn't actually think of anything beyond his own dirt encrusted navel and any opinion that aligns with what programming you've been fed today.

I like sanctum tho. It is easier in poe 2 and more fun to me. But still probably too hard on leveling.
100k left in 2 weeks is 25% of concurrent player is something happens every league. I don't see here a huge problem considering it is early access with limited content and endgame especially.
I am a huge Sanctum hater.
Let me take my hate goggles off for 1 second.
Here's the thing. If Sanctum didn't have Honour I'd like it.
If PoE2 Sanctum was 100% optional than I'd also like it.
I wouldn't PLAY it, but at least the changes would be cool.
At least with Sanctum you can argue they made it better in PoE2.
It went from chugging raw unfiltered bleach to gargling piss.
While unpleasant, the piss won't kill you as you die screaming.
That's better than what they did to Ultimatum.
GGG removed the Push your luck mechanic from the Push your luck minigame.
Rather odd decision.
I will now never say anything nice about Sanctum ever again.
I can agree with this take. I don't like Sanctum in it's current honour form. I can deal with it on the whole, but I really REALLY dislike the honour particularly. Getting purple smoke from a 'random affliction' sucked, and I had the intense fun of hoping afflictions I got weren't going to utterly destroy me because I couldn't pick ones to work with my build. But I think if honour was taken off, I COULD suck it up and deal with something I really don't enjoy.
And maybe take off 1-2 rooms because goddamn that's a long trip.

So if only 30 people remain playing, then GGG needs to crutch on those 30 people buying 10k Dollar supporter packs to keep the company going?
Scaring 100k people off is NOT what a company with any sort of reasoning and sanity should celebrate.
The streamers will eventually drop the game too, and play other stuff, not everyone can be a Joshimuz who plays GTA San Andreas for decades and still has all the viewers.
Even Asmon will drop the game like a hot potato once its reached its half life and burnt out for his audience, the only people who will be dedicated is long term players and players who dont have a lot of time on their hands.
But GGG has succeeded very well throughout the years in driving especially the casual players away, those who would play the game for years, but only an hour each day, or twice a week, but they would be recurring, and pleased with the experience.
GGG and the majority of its elitist fan base seems to have completely detached from any earthly logic, and this is just a baffling sight to behold.

There isn't 30 people playing. There's nearly 400k playing on steam alone on a school/work night. You over exaggerating in an attempt to get the devs to soften up some of the mechanics.
