You only get punished every 2 seconds if you're bad. This is not a game for bads. Bads will be filtered out. You'll be surprised how many players actually value a game with a challenge instead of a theme park.

But keep on gatekeeping like that, I'm sure its very healthy for this game's player retention.

This is one of the best changes they made, 100% support 1 death on maps. If it blocked you (as they originally said it would) I might not agree, but the way it is implemented is a really good balance between punishment for failure and actual loss.

It feels like its a placeholder until some other mechanics get flushed out, even more so that the endgame was thrown in as something to keep people busy as they work on the other 75% of the game.

I can see with where they are trending with the balance patches and tweaking mechanics that the 1 portal likely isn't going to stay long term.

yea, some people aren't going to like it, but over the long term I can see this being absolutely terrible for retention.

What I'd like to see it become a modifier on the map, with increased loot/xp/rarity, best of both worlds for everyone. Make it worth it to deal with.

Throwing your hands up, or driving people away from the game in the end will make everyone lose.

GGG always wanted to create a true hardcore game and PoE1 got easier with each league, because people demanded more and more hand-holding.

The 1 portal setup is perfect. It really gives you the feeling, that your death has consequences. You wanna finish the map? Then don't play a glass cannon and stay focused while you play.

People finally need to realize, that PoE2 isn't going to be PoE1.

This game stops my fun all the time with strange difficulty in places where there shouldn`t be any. You get oneshot all the time in maps due to high mob damage the experience loss should also go.

Have you made it to T15's? With a 90+ Character? That wasn't beefed out through trade and maxroll build guides, or a jungroan YT video? We're not talking about the 5% of people that can make it to late-endgame content (and thrive) here, who are 100% efficient in every action they do when building characters. We're talking about the other 95% of the player base. The first timers, the casuals, the "I can only play a few hours a week because I work and have a family" players. This game does not respect the time of the player, at all. RNG, Map sustain, not being able to reroll maps, random offscreen one-shots in higher maps, map deletion... and when it's finished, a 40-60 hour campaign.

Everything in this game is counterproductive to player retention in the long run. "just git gud" is the most ridiculous thing to argue in a game in this state. Even builds that aren't glass cannons can, and do, get stomped at times by things they had no control over, no matter how "focused" they were.

No more portals, never budge on decisions making gameplay meaningfull.

PoE 1 is still there, play that just as I do when I need no stress click to murder.
If they had any balls you'd lose your toon and all your gear on death, immediately be logged out and have to start a new account.

1 portal maps is rainbows and unicorns shooting out your pansy asses
