1 MAP - 1 DEATH HAS TO GO
+1
Dying multiple times in a row red maps shows the cracks in the system very quickly. You lose good maps, you lose xp, you lose the time you spent trying to make your character better. The current system exists solely to boost Player Retention statistics on their backend, a stat GGG has shown a strong interest in. |

1 portal is too much stress

" Exactly, nobody wants to be stressed out 24/7 playing this game. That's gonna fatigue players and make them burn out or straight up quit so fast. |

Yeah I hate it, turns dopamine hits into anxiety spikes instead.

I think the best way to put this argument is simply that if players want to have to play the game without dying, that is the point of the hardcore league.
With the game in its current state, losing the map when you die is functional, as it creates more for even the more casual players to do in the coming months while the rest of the game is assembled and tuned. Once the game is more complete, it may be wise for audience retention to be more forgiving with the maps. While there will always be players who can and want to complete the map with a singular portal, there will likewise always be players who cannot and who don't have the time to perfect their characters to that level. That being said, I do agree that this game should keep a tighter reign on difficulty than the previous game did. Six attempts at a map was far too easy, especially as time marched onward with a dozen mechanics from different leagues, but there is likely a good amount between the six of old and the current one. My point is, the game has a non-hardcore league that permits death at every point prior to endgame, and endgame should not immediately jump to such a difference. Everyone saying to just get good can play on hardcore where there will be no functional difference if any number of deaths are allowed within maps for standard leagues. |

" Hardcore deletes your character upon death. This is a lame argument. Deleting a char and deleting a map is not even close comparison. The arpg softcore mode of your deaths have no consequence is quite lame. Where is the challenge? Do you just want to be rewarded for playing the game where everyone gets participation trophies | |
If path of exile had well telegraphed enemy attacks and was slow and methodical like we were led to believe then 1 portal might be okay. However builds end up being very fast and spammy and mobs move incredibly fast with spell effects going crazy 99% of deaths are to some mechanic you can hardly see. If you are gonna make it punishing at least make mechanics clear or gives us our 6 portals back. Not punishing mechanics and only 1 portal that feels bad and its very stressful.

I mean this in all sincerity but why is this a big deal? I mean, I can easily put another map in? Mind you, my statement is likely ignorant as I stopped playing around T5 difficulty (for different reasons).

Agreed.
