1 MAP - 1 DEATH HAS TO GO
It effectively need to go.
I don’t die often and I’m on lvl 12ish map. Every dead I have feel cheap and are of those category’s: 1- something just kill me I was moving alone killing some mob and boom I’m dead, confuse and piss. Was there shit on the ground, was it a one shoot chaos attack… no idea but I got 1 shoot. 2- kill a rare yellow am looting and boom after dead effect kill me. Oh and most mob got little dead effect. Most do nothing but some will kill you. 3- I make a stupid mistake like blink myself into a corner and die. That my fault but still lost a map and I’m piss. All those dead would be find if I had a few chance at each map at least 2 but 3-4 would be a nice spot. Why is it so punishing we still loose ton of cp on death and it’s not that easy to sustain map as it is. Either give use more chance or make map sustainability easier and remove the xp penalties. Is having 1 shoot at a map make it more fun….no Just add frustration to the game. Honestly thinking of farming rare material to do a pinnacle boss that will most likely kill me cause I don’t know the fight…just discourage me to even try. If I had a few try might still loose but will have a fighting chance to learn the boss |

As someone who is regularly blasting T16/17/18's and killing pinnacle multiple times, I'd still recommend a change to the 1 portal system.
Argument is simple. If you're playing softcore, your penalty is the hours (Level 90+) it takes to level up for your death. If you want your meaningful death, then simply play Hardcore. This pseudo-hardcore mindset is mind blowing to me. Especially with the hours spent scouring the atlas for citadels to then potentially lose the fight (stupid circle BS) if I don't nuke him (which I do). I'm basically shoe-horned into a playstyle because its optimal due to the fact that losing that map could mean HOURS of scouring again to get fragments. If anything, give me the portals on bosses. Maps can stay as 1. |

Absolutely.
Why make the repetitive part of the gameplay less arduous when the point of some of the mapping experience is to chill and collect currency? What is the point in making the entire late game nail pulling? Oh, you just want people to know you are "big and bad and good at everything"? Apologies, I mistook this for a serious opinion. Gambling addiction means that I win more than you do. Last edited by PerforatedIntestines#2752 on Dec 24, 2024, 1:21:09 AM

Average PoE1 so called vets complaining online :
"You see, I'm playing the highest difficulty tier with a net-build, farming for 300h without having fun in punitive maps, and when I find a key to Hell I've never played before, I slam it with +6000% monsters damage+Crit chance+resistance while also removing 150% of my defense, and WTF I died and lost the map. This is totally unfair. I deserve to win the endless endgame and get a trophy because I paid for the game and the devs should bend it to my will ; or else, pay me back and give me my time back. It's totally their fault if I played the game for so long for a meaningless achievement to brag about. I'm the best player in the universe and no enemy, no map, no boss, no game, even fully juiced with all my precious currency, by my own hand, for some reasons, should resist me. So pay me back or else you'll never be able to survive without the money I, and only me, throw at you. This is not the definition of Hard. Hard isn't a test of patience, a test of will, of reflex and timing, a test of knowledge and adaptibility, a time consuming and punitive experience ; No! Hard is only a boss DPS-check and map clearing speed, we all know that. PoE always been the kind of game where you turn your brain off and click screens with a net build and a traded gear. All the people trying to make their own builds and drop/craft their own gears and having fun are stupid monkeys and understand nothing. That's not what real PoE is about. Anyways, I'll go back to farm 300h without having fun because I need the achievement to show off and be finally happy." Yeah.... Right. Merry Christmas guys, have a good one. |

I hope GGG will ignore topics like this. I find 1 death per map system perfectly fine, it makes the game challenging strategically. I've fixed my map sustain using the Atlas tree and juicing maps knowledge. Can't remember any death that I couldn't avoid, usually I die only because I'm rushing. Don't rush and pay attention to what maps you use and where and you'll be fine.
I'm pretty sure that changes to 1-death system will trivialize the game and trivializing it is the worst thing that may happen. The balance between casual and hardcore gameplay feels quite good atm, IMO it should be even tuned a little bit in the hardcore direction. And the funniest part here that I'm new at POE and I was playing D4 before and all those challenging parts feels SOOOOOO good and enjoyable. Last edited by killahbro#5401 on Dec 24, 2024, 4:22:32 AM

" Exactly, participation trophy gameplay, fail at ENDgame unacceptable. ENDgame shouldn't be hard or dangerous, only later stuff heh. " Sure, except for a fact that it's not torture or punishment even for a sec, it's fun and exciting to know any mistake can be your last, to have to focus, analyze environment, generally feels very in the moment. It is very normal to seek that as a human being, people go to excessive lenghts, even risk their life (extreme sports), to really feel focused and free of past/ future for a while. So, to suggest a psychologist/ psychiatrist for a complete, butt comfy in your chair, no risk desire for a shade of that in a video game is pathetic, and I mean thinking that about pure hardcore now, not this baby hardcore oh noes level eleventy twenty I lost xp, I participated how could it be.
