Exp loss on death topics are getting out of hand.
Let me tell you my perspective. I have been stuck at 79 for over a week. I died 5x back to back to back today and lost half a level of experience and countless hours of grinding. I am not a hardcore player, but I have spent over a hundred hours in the game due to the gameplay being fun. Today was the final straw. After the 5th death and subsequent loss of experience, I deleted all of my characters, deleted everything in my bank, deleted all the crafting materials and stuff I had saved up for subsequent playthroughs, deleted the game, and walked away. I doubt very seriously I'll ever return at this point. The frustration was too much. But I guarantee beyond a shadow of doubt that I'll never return to the game unless this trash mechanic is removed.

POE2 is no where clsoe to refined enough to have these sort of penalties for dying. The game has a lot of bullshit in it. I understand these type's of game's ( games with microtransactions ) want to keep players playing because it helps promote sells in their in-game store. But if you want to delete 30 minutes worth of expereince for one death then refine your game properly. Properly balance on-death effects, look closely at some of the rare mob modifiers. Work on your maps because a lot of them are clunky to navigate etc.

I think the death penalty sucks bc it just disincentivizes any sort of risky play but you really shouldn’t be dying much if your gear is good you will blast t15 maps with no difficulty at all. I have died once in the past 2 days and it was kind of bullshit but I could have avoided it. I was only lvl 90 so it set me back 2 maybe 3 maps.

" Dude at lvl 79 u can get like half a level in a single map. It doesn’t really start to suck until high 80s and at 90+ it becomes a slog to level but dying becomes fairly easy to avoid. |

Poe2 got my girl and me on the couch playing almost every night. She(not an avid gamer) basically pulled me though most of the campaign on my first player, I would die because I wasn’t being smart and she’d finish the boss off and grab me, we both now are in endgame and the rolls have reversed, as she started out with warrior and I’m the monk, now we’ve gotten her ranger through the campaign and into endgame and we’re enjoying most every park of the atlas. (Let me zoom out further!!)

You should just lose the xp you've gotten from that map your on not xp from the last % maps you've completed. I've been stuck at lvl 93 forever because of Eternal Knights killing me with their trash green projectiles and It's insanely frustrating when I die and the last however many hrs of play wasted because I get oneshot. It's a stupid mechanic.

OP is really out of hand. People simply do not like the loss of XP because the game has too many one shot, bugs, and stupid visual design.
The game directors really need to [Removed by Support]. The game is not made for them. It is made for the players. So many vocal idiots who fanboy Grinding Gear so much. Yet they don't even make a sound when Grinding Gear refuse to ban a cheater because he is rich. |

The ratio in terms of experience is a joke.
You do a T15 map and get maybe 1% progress. You die and lose 9%. No intermediate steps, so you can only drop back to 20/40/60/80 percent, for example. Three deaths = three evenings spent playing for nothing. Forget real life. Pure frustration, disproportionate. Isn't PoE supposed to be fun? Then it's the wrong game for me. I understand everyone who's frustrated and puking their guts out here in the forum. Better name the game PitA2: Pain in the Ass 2. | |
I personally agree with the 10% penalty. If your build isn't good enough to consistently stay alive, you shouldn't be rewarded with the progression or the benefit of having a level 100 character. If you want to keep dying in end game but continuing to beat your head against the wall doing so like a buffalo being herded off a cliff, then play Diablo 4, PoE 2 simply isn't for you, nor has it been for everyone. It's been successful cause it's different, if GGG hasn't changed certain aspects from PoE 1 to to PoE 2, I somehow doubt they will now, so don't expect that penalty to be removed at all.

The immediate loss of exp when you die in a game with so much visual clutter and jump scares make this an absolute chore of a game especially when I'm still trying to refine my build for more endgame.
It's the absolute worst feeling to spend hours doing safe low level waystones to avoid one shots only for you to get one shot anyway by one of the 40 high speed tracking abilities that one shot anyone stupid enough to build in evasion and ALL that exp you just grinded for is home, with a little extra off the top. I'm about to just stop playing if I can't get off level 74 |
