Endgame Dev comments on Portals.

I'm fine with it now, because the biggest issue was with bosses where you actually need to learn the fight.

In other maps it just means once in a while you'll lose the map, which isn't the end of the world.
i really like the 1 portal mechanic. i think as a way of making me care about death its the best one, im 100% behind them keeping it i hope they stick to their guns. i also accept that losing the content on the node is necessary to avoid abuse, its correct it would be massively abused.

mark did say the combo of everything was a bit much. i think its too much too.

personally i like the ideas of the xp you earn in a map being held in a pool and not rewarded to you until you complete the map, lose it on death as an alternative tot he 10% xp penalty. or maybe the xp penalty starting at 90 idea. i think i like the not getting the xp from the map you died in idea the best. if something has to give, thats what i want to see give.

i think the 1 portal mechanic is better than the 10% xp loss because it encourages me to try. if i dont try i dont get the content anyway. the xp loss says dont try its too risky. the game is more fun when the player takes the risks.

Overall I am upset that Trails were not addressed. That was the only reason I was watching that interview. With the hope that I could give my friends some good news. Instead I have no news. Nothing.

They didn't mention points 5-6 because Act 4 is going to have a third easy tutorial trial which probably gives them to you. Meaning most players will get the first 6 points relatively easily during the Campaign, while final two points will be proper endgame content. Which they kinda were in PoE 1 as well.

oh, ohhhhhh

i didnt even think of that. well done mate, im glad one of us has their brain switched on. the 3rd mechanic gives us the 3rd set from a tutorial level encounter...

ngl the ascendancy thing was pissing me off big time, but youre right. ok, im kind of fine with it then, youve changed my mind on the thing and saved me what would have been a redundant feedback post eventually.

i really hope the 3rd mechanic is a good one.

1 portal will always feel bad because of how rng heavy maps can get. Demanding from players stay 100% focused in such heavy grind game won't make anyone happy except tryhards. People either will play boringly safe or burn out of bs deaths which are one of the GGG's trademarks since inception.

IMHO, 2-3 portals is the sweet spot with map poss fully reseting on death, so no cheesing the mechanics etc.

With that in place, you can play risky die once then decide if you want take safer approach or still bruteforce the map.

Someone please tell Jonathan there are numbers between 1 and 6.

Losing a map because you made a minor mistake feels like utter dogshit, especially while so much is completely fucking broken in this game and enemies push you around like you're a fucking pinball.
POE2 and with POE1 and many other ARPGs have always had out of nowhere death issues, there is NO way anyone can avoid them all, all of the time. Ever the best of the best get got when try harding.

The amount of negativity around the One portal is hindering the player experience. If this is a rout that GGG wanted then I would think it would be an option to test while in early access. Not a forced mechanic.

With the hype and anticipation for what is to come from GGG and POE2, to have a function like one portal, which you lose so much. With so many new to POE/POE2.

IDK?
With locked ascendency and one death penalty, the entry is pretty high for general new players who will just be even more forced to follow one of those meta builds. I'm sure those RMT webs will really appreciate this decision since all those builded items will be rd to ship XD.

Lord, lets hope not. I cant stand those RMT spammers, I started playing this Early Access on standard and got so tired of the spammers I deleted most my chars and went back to SSF.

And found that in SSF its a bit more grueling of a task to get through it. After 11 years with GGG and playing POE, You think I would be better, with broken hands and old reflexes, I am not.

I can handle the one portal thing, cause I have a crap ton of time to play. I just had an Idea about the learning curve to the mapping. But as it stands maybe we are just getting ahead of ourselves and GGG already has a solution. Just not ready to revile it.

I still can't understand why people pay for carries. Like why they want to success in a game that is too hard for them? What's the problem with just not playing that game? What's the fun behind being carried through content with zero effort? It's a game right? It's not real. Or I missed something? Is there some real life prize for everyone who reach 100, like 100.000 euro or something?
