And again you conveniently left out the point that Jonathan said quite a lot about acknowledging the issue with the current situation, that he can see that it is too punishing, but have not found a better solution just yet.

So stop with that narrative of "1 portal and XP loss are staying". You don't know that. We don't know that. Even GGG does not now that yet. It was certainly not said explicitely. We have to wait and see on what they will land on.


And again you convenient left out the entire stream where these issues will be remedied by balance changes the devs themselves, will hopefully lessen these issues some players have

A lot of changes to monsters and behavior were directly changed to help you not die unfairly, mechanics spawning to many mobs they acknowledge, mobs moving to quickly they acknowledged, certain classes having little defense relative to others etc...

Mark himself stated "we will not touch the 1 portal system, or revisit it, before touching these other systems..."

They didn't mention points 5-6 because Act 4 is going to have a third easy tutorial trial which probably gives them to you. Meaning most players will get the first 6 points relatively easily during the Campaign, while final two points will be proper endgame content. Which they kinda were in PoE 1 as well.


I am aware, and that is not the pain point.
Its the Trials itself. They are hated. Sanctum in particular gets a lot of criticism. I see at least two or three threads here a day talking about how bad they are. Those posts typically get hundreds of responses. Trial feedback is a very popular topic.

Across all of the announcements, talk about the trials is not even worth putting down as a bullet point. That's the point. That is my disappointment. Less to do with the devs, and more to do with the list of questions the interviewers brought.

Because Hardcore is too hard for them, so they want Harcore mechanics on Standard

but, they will use Alt+F4 Macro to avoid losing their session and championing in the forum saying they like it



They "like" challange, but not have the witts to play Hardcore mode. They like to gloat in the forum and play softcore and trade league.

Thats because the trials are easy, like extremely easy. other than the 4th which they already stated is completely intended.
One Portal will probably stick around for far too long.
Johnathan seems to be very defensive and proud of that system.
The one portal system is bad.

Okay. Why?

You already have the perfect system in place for death to mean something.
It is called Hardcore.

GGG has also wisely made that system OPT IN.
Most players do not want that kind of time wasting experience.
Some players have time to burn and love the Hardcore experience.


If I had to guess this is an overreaction to how trivial death was in the campaign of PoE1. You lost nothing, not even boss progress. It was not a good system.

I believe that things would be fine with the same PoE1 six portal system on maps. Resetting the boss, and any mobs still alive would still offer death to have the expected penalty from PoE2 campaign.
How about adding a slider:

6 Portals = 100% Rarity and/or Quantity
1 Portal = 160% Rarity and/or Quantity

Or just using the intended customization mechanic, Atlas passive points.

Give us 2 nods that reduce portals by 3 and 2 for some rarity/extra bag space.

Now everyone can customize the endgame experience. You know... the entire purpose of having an atlas tree...
