Endgame Dev comments on Portals.
Making maps easier from the start and curving up does the exact same thing without needing to add more portals which is what they plan to do

" Did you ever play any souls game? PoE 2 is nothing like that. Adding dodge roll to a game doesn't make it souls-like. |
|
" Yada yada. I know that. But the game tries to replicate the whole experience of being a Soulslike while being an ARPG Looter. Everything has high damage, everything is methodical and slow, but that doesn't fit at all with an ARPG Looter. But they want to keep betting on that. We have slow and fragile characters that take oneshots from everything. And ultra fast mobs with high HP and damage. |

1 portal for t12+ is still ridiculous to me....mind you...you are talking about portals and not deaths
kind of invalidates what youre trying to get at...i would be clear with what youre trying to say here regardless there is no room to learn if you truly want to compare with dark souls type of games, this comes no where near it. it is excessively punishing to just be annoying. even souls knew you needed opportunities to learn mechanics and fights. |
|
" It makes the next gen AND souls like. |
|
" Even with that it is still a HUGE "I quit!" moment. Life happens, distractions pop up, mistakes are made. Not getting the runback hurts man. If they ACTUALLY wanted the game to be a souls-like they'd let you just run everything back an infinite amount of times. But they don't and they won't because the vision is fundamentally flawed. |

Sounds better than what they have now.
Another idea might be a system where we eliminate portal counts altogether and have a secondary limited resource similar to gold such as resurrection vials that can be found/earned/bought with gold. The higher the tier the map, more vials needed or something. |

" They already stated that the last ascendancy points aren't made for "average player", and the "average player" description of them are players that aren't able to go through high tiers of map. Its kinda vague and somewhat overestimating / undersestimating players with that kind of description of average players because an average player could deal with high tier maps just fine, but having a completely different experience in clearing "uber" trials mainly because of builds. Some average players can breeze through both because they play META build, and others can't simply because they don't play META build. Imho, uber trials are fine as is, let players earn the power, however do not nerf the powers. Make the powers worth the effort to be earned. Last edited by bewilder2#0356 on Jan 12, 2025, 5:49:51 PM

I'll be clear too: if they keep the single portal for maps, I won't play poe-2 :-)

" Well, given what they said... Bye. |
